CHANGES TO UK UHF WIRELESS MICROPHONE LICENCE
The UK shared UHF licence, intended for ‘professional and semi-professional applications anywhere in the UK’, issued by the JFMG, has allowed, and still allows as of March 2010, use of the channel 69 frequency band, 854.90 to 861.75 MHz.
In 2012, channel 69 will cease to be available for the use of radio microphones. Customers are advised to choose equipment capable of using the channel 38 band, 606 to 614MHz, when making new purchases. Potential users can check if channel 38 is available currently in their area by using the following link: www.jfmg.co.uk/JfmgEcom/Wireless/Public/MicrophoneSh600.aspx.
Trantec were early providers of suitable equipment, see Index.
This change does not affect licence exempt frequencies on VHF (173.7 - 175.1 MHz) and UHF ( 863.0 - 865.0 MHz) bands.
JFMG is the ‘dedicated frequency band manager’ for programme-making, entertainment, special events and related activities. They co-ordinate the use of spectrum and issue licences for applications including wireless microphones, wireless cameras, programme links and communications.
