Royal wedding audio & video routed through Canford panels

Westminster Abby

Canford HD TV, Data and audio panels played a key role in transmitting the TV video and sound to the World at the Royal Wedding. MUSA HD and BNC HD panels sat alongside XLR audio termination panels, Universal Connection panels, Triax and HD angled Tailgate panels in the UK's World renowned outside broadcast fleets including SIS Live and Arena Television.

The Canford range of interconnection panels, designed and manufactured at the Portland, Dorset plant includes versions that can transmit signals exceeding 3G/bs. Custom panel orders to customer specifications are regularly manufactured and were also employed within this project. The Canford range of panels has a reputation for quality and performance that is the envy of competing manufacturers. As a result they have become the panels of choice for all the major UK OB truck makers and have been transmitting audio, video and data signals from all the major events around the World for the last few years including several World Cups and Olympic Games.

A new OB truck constructed by FAL Systems in Leeds was also on duty at the Royal Wedding, fresh from its 'shakedown' runs at Lambing Live and The Grand National at Aintree. As well as the panels employed in the build, Canford was pleased to provide a wide variety of additional products including cabling, patchcords, connectors, headphones, microphones and mounting and racking equipment.

Canford equipment and cabling was also been installed within Westminster Abbey itself as part of the PA system. The project included the ubiquitous Die Cast, powered speaker type that Canford has manufactured for almost two decades and that continues to be as popular as ever. Copious quantities of Canford's own designs of audio cabling were also employed throughout the critical audio infrastructure. Canford specialist audio installation cables include the General Purpose Speaker cable (GPS) in two core or four core versions with 0.75mm copper conductors and GPS 1.5 with 1.5mm copper conductors, our flexible Category 5E (CAT5E-F) which is suitable for both AES digital audio and data signals and a wide range of Starquad cable types including multiple Canford types alongside the other major manufacturers including Belden and Mogami.
