PCMCIA or PC CARDS
PCMCIA stands for the Personal Computer Memory Card International Association, which developed a standard for small devices, called PC Cards, generally used in laptop computers, but also used in some dedicated audio equipment. There are three types, 85.6 x 54mm in area. Type I, II and III cards are 3.3mm. 5.5mm and 10.5mm maximum thickness respectively.
Slots are in three sizes: A Type I slot can hold one Type I card. A Type II slot can hold one Type II card or one Type I card. A Type III slot can hold one Type III card or any combination of two Type I or Type II cards.
