CANFORD RACKSECURE - High security rack equipment covers
Designed to keep un-authorised “knob twiddlers” from “adjusting” carefully pre-set parameters of a variety of rackmounted equipments, this range offers reasonable security whilst fitting most types of unit. The covers are made of folded sheet steel, finished in black or grey. They have both ends filled, to prevent the ingress of dirt and to present a tidier appearance.
The equipment is mounted using M6 cage nuts (not supplied, see Index: Cage nuts) in the usual way, but using the threaded pillars and washers supplied, instead of the usual rackmount bolts. The cover is then attached, when the equipment is set-up, to the pillars, using the M5 hex, button-head screws and key (supplied) or, if extra security is required, the high security kit, consisting of a tool and four screws may be substituted.
Covers are 3U high and cover the full extent of the panel, although approximately 2mm clear panel space is required around the periphery of the panel, since the cover fits flush to keep out probing paper-clips. Internal clearance height for controls: 25mm
Note:
These covers should not be fitted where the design of the equipment beneath relies on the front panel to dissipate heat, or there are cooling vents, or if the front panel has any controls, for example a main switch, which must be accessible for safety reasons.
