Description

DENON SD CARD AND USB PLAYER - DN-F300

Intended for use as a music source in installations such as bars, restaurants, offices, fitness centres and houses of worship the DN-F300 plays stereo or mono MP3 or WAV audio files from a removable SD or SDHC card or from external USB media; a microphone may be connected for paging or announcements. Operating control and file-management are from buttons on the front panel or from the infra-red handset supplied. Rack-mounting brackets are fitted as standard, to fit in a 1U space.

A simple file-management system allows the operator to select the file(s) to be played, and to enable other functions such as repeat and random play, pitch-shift with or without constant tempo and fast re-cueing. It is also possible to repeat a section of programme within an individual track. Normal audio player 'transport' controls such as pause, stop, skip and search are provided. The player has front and rear microphone inputs, and music-ducking under announcements can be enabled if wished. An auto-play feature puts the DN-F300 into play mode from power-up, making it suitable for use in retail premises, galleries and similar locations. Most operating functions may be commanded from the supplied infra-red remote control handset.

The front panel has a large multi-function display; information includes elapsed or remaining track-time, track or file-name, folder and track numbers, play-back mode, pitch percentage, and track BPM. The memory-card slot and USB port for use with flash memory or an external hard-drive, with associated select buttons, are adjacent. There are dedicated keys for 'Play/Pause', 'Stop', 'Cue', 'FFWD' and 'FREW'. File or track selection, folder navigation and menu operations are performed with a rotary jog-wheel with push-to-enter function. A 'display' button selects the text display to show MP3 folder, track, artist or album names from ID3 tags, accesses menu-mode and has a 'store' function within the menus. There are dedicated buttons for 'Play Mode', which selects continuous, single or random play-back modes, 'Time', which sets the time-display to elapsed or remaining time, 'A', 'B' and 'Exit/Reloop', which are used with repeat loops, and 'Next Track'. A rotary +/- 20% pitch-control has 'Pitch' on/off and 'Tempo Lock' buttons. Temporary pitch-bending can also be achieved with dedicated '+' and '-' buttons. The front panel also has two 6.35mm 2-pole jack sockets for an unbalanced microphone input and a headphone output. Both sockets have associated level controls, and there is also an output level control. All level controls retract flush into the panel when not in use. The large, latching, power on/off switch has a blue LED.

The rear panel has two RCA (phono) sockets for unbalanced audio outputs and a 6.35mm 2-pole jack socket for a second unbalanced microphone input; this input is summed with that connected at the front panel. DC power input is via a coaxial socket from an external AC adapter.
