Generic RCA (phono) audio plugs are extremely common and have been in use for a very long time - well over 50 years! The old-style RCA (phono) type solder plugs have an impedance characteristic of approximately 25 ohms, and exhibit extremely poor Return Loss performance when mated with professional 75 ohm coaxial video cable. Canare RCA (phono) connectors are true 75 ohm types, with impedance-matched performance characteristics, suitable for both analogue and digital applications. The usable bandwidth is DC to 200MHz for cable types, DC to 100MHz for panel types, all types with =26dB return loss (=1.1 VSWR).
Canare crimp tool TC-1 (stock code 55-841) should be used, with appropriate jaw set (see CANARE CRIMP TOOLS - Co-axial connectors).
Male cable crimp types
The three-piece connector design offers consistent and extremely reliable terminations with a variety of 75 ohm coaxial cable sizes. This unique construction reduces set-up and assembly time by a considerable amount, as no soldering is required. To allow common tooling and assembly process with the Canare BNC connectors, the connector uses the same crimp centre pin as the BNC, which then inserts into the rear of the thick centre contact of the plug. So the assembly process is to strip back the cable, crimp on the centre pin, snap-lock the pin with cable into the plug body, slide up the ferrule and crimp. Available packed singly, or in bulk tray packs of 100.

Canare connectors for Group Q cables are denoted as Q1, Q2 and Q3. Q1 are suitable for RG59B/U, Canare LV-61S and Belden 8241. Q2 is for Canare L-4CFB and Belden 1505A. Q3 is for Belden 1505F.
