SONY DAT RECORDER - PCM-R500

A four-motor transport, 2-head, rackmounting, professional DAT recorder, with 48, 44.1 and 32 (long play) kHz sample-rate recording. The front panel includes simple menu operation, and concentric data-shuttle wheel, for rapid menu action, and fast, precise transport operation. Rear panel connectors include balanced XLR analogue and AESEBU digital inputs and outputs, RCA (phono) unbalanced analogue and IEC958 (SPDIF) digital inputs and outputs. 8 pin DIN parallel remote interface. Supplied complete with wireless remote control. Dimensions: 3U × 335 mm deep, weight: 7.1kg

Canford has found a very small quantity of these machines, which are believed to possibly be the last brand new units available anywhere, and will be of interest to organisations who have used DAT as a primary archive medium. They are in the original Sony packaging, still sealed. When these are gone, there are definitely no more.
