Especially designed for field production, the TL1730HDA-CO is a 17.3 inch, high-resolution, 10-bit, IPS monitor, built into a water-tight polypropylene case. The case will 'fit the luggage rack of all airline cabins'. The monitor requires an external 12V DC supply or, alternatively, a third-party V-mount battery may be fitted to the internal mounting plate.
A 'detachable foldable sunshade' is provided for operation in bright conditions and a removable screen protector is supplied which 'can prevent the LCD screen from being scratched or impacted'.
Ruige use 'a 10bit IPS panel with full resolution (covers REC-709 gamut), full viewing angle and wide gammut, and includes 'PCM, a professional color management system (3D LUT)'. Ruige claim 'the color space is rich and high in performance which brings more details, true color and a better sensory experience for the user'.
The monitor has a native resolution of 1920x1080, the built-in 3D LUT supports 'REC709, SMPTE-C, EBU'. Features include an on-display battery meter, and auxiliary measurement functions: 'Luminance waveform, RGB waveform, vector, focus peaking and false color', three waveform displays, (brightness/vectorscope/RGB), SDI, DVI signal waveform monitoring, focus assistant (red/green/blue/yellow), Time code(VITC/VTC), Safety marks/Tally/UMD, black and white or blue only, SDI 1/1.001, HDCP 1.1, H/V-delay, 16 channel audio meters, battery checking, freeze frame.
A 'log mode conversion function' is provided to convert material shot in log mode to REC-709 standard colour gamut, helping 'directors, photographers, and lighting specialists to see the final color and lighting effects'. The monitor 'possesses S-log1, S-log2, S-log3 and C-log conversion'.
The panel is mounted in the lid of the briefcase-style case, with a cable connecting it to the electronics mounted in the base of the case. Beneath the panel there are two loudspeakers. Two hydraulic rams position the lid in operating position.
The case itself is sourced from Italy, is 'high-temperature resistant, impact resistant, water proof and dust proof' and has features such as a moulded handle, O-ring sealing and jam-free purge-valve and latches. It may be padlocked.
The electronics housing is mounted on the base of the case, towards the front of the case. The controls are mounted on a panel which swivels up to a 45 degree angle, facing the user, when a release is pressed. The panel can be closed after adjustment, avoiding contamination by dust and water.
On the pop-up control panel a row of four dual-function, rotary controls provide the following primary functions; adjustment of 1: Brightness. 2: Contrast. 3: Saturation. 4: Sharpness.
The second functions are - 1: Selecting from the menu (after pressing the control to enter the menu). 2: Adjusts the volume. 3: Switches between colour and monochrome - black and white and 'blue screen'. 4: Enters 'Pixel-to-Pixel' mode, a '1:1 pixel zoom function at screen maximum resolution'.
On the left of the rotary controls are twelve push keys as follows: Lock settings / menu exit. Select composite input. Select VGA input. Select HDMI input. Select SDI 1 input. Select SDI 2 input. Six shortcut keys, which may be defined by the user.
On the rear panel of the electronics housing are the following: Composite video input and output, 2x BNC. Audio input, 2x RCA (phono). HD/SDI video inputs 1 and 2, 2x BNC. HDMI input, HDMI-A. Tally input. VGA input, 1x D-sub HD15. 5V output. DC 12V power input. Power switch. There is also an earphone socket, positioned on the side of the pop-up panel.
The TL1730HDA-CO is compatible with 14.4V broadcast Lithium batteries and can continuously operate for over 6 hours when using a 130 Wh type.
