CANFORD STUDIO ACOUSTIC TABLES
A range of purpose built tables for use in radio and production studios. The standard shapes are circular 1220mm diameter, hexagonal 1220mm across flats, hexagonal 1070mm across flats (special order only), and rectangular 1530 x 740mm. Standard height is 760mm. The top is acoustically absorbent, and is faced with a hardwearing fabric which is flameproof to BS5852 (parts 1 & 2). The standard fabric colour is brown, but a wide range of other colours are available to order, a colour sample book is available on loan. The main frame, legs and edges are all polished ash or beech (mahogany to special order), and the legs are detachable. A circular hole is provided in the centre of circular and hexagonal tables for cables and microphone stands. The absorbent surface helps reduce the unwanted pickup of reflected sound by the back end of microphones – an effect which leads to colouration. The fabric surface also keeps to a minimum noises from pens, glasses etc.
Tables are available with 3-pole 1/4" (6.35mm) frame type jack sockets (which accept both A and B gauge jacks) fitted. Circular tables are available either with no jacks, or nine jacks (unwired) in the underframe, one at one end and two at the other, on each of the three underframe rails. Hexagonal types can optionally have single or dual jacks fitted to each top edge face, and these are wired in parallel on one or two circuits, and connected to one or two XLR 3 pin female connectors mounted centrally underneath for headphone inputs. Rectangular tables as standard have either no jacks, or two (unwired) at the right hand end of each long side.
These are craftsman built, sturdy, well finished products that will do justice to any studio installation. New techniques enable a wide variety of curved edgings to be made for use on tables and other furniture, that generally work out more economical than “traditional” curved sections. Substantial numbers of various versions are in use throughout the BBC, ILR, ITV and independent production studios.
