Description
TRANTEC HEADWORN MICROPHONES
Primarily intended for use with Trantec radiomic belt packs, these microphones may also be used, with appropriate adapters, in wired or wireless applications. Models are offered for use in applications from security through aerobics to stage vocals, with omni-directional and super-cardioid patterns. Over-the-head and over-the-ear styles are included, as well as some models in colour-coordinating blue and yellow!
Connectors
Trantec part numbers are usually prefixed to indicate which connector is fitted as standard. Trantec radiomic belt packs use a variety of connectors, so care should be taken to choose a microphone fitted with the connector to suit the equipment with which it is to be used.
SJ prefix: Trantec screw-jack. 3.5mm 3-pole.
TS prefix: Lemo, 4-pole.
X prefix: Miniature 4-pole XLR style.
SJ-33, TS-33, X-33
Designed primarily for the active professional who needs hands-free operation in applications such as sports, journalism, event organisation, transportation, warehousing and restaurant industries. The capsule and boom are moisture protected by moulded injections.
Omni-directional electret condenser. Response: 20Hz-16kHz. Impedance: 2000 ohms. Supply: 2-12V. Cable length: 1500mm.
Included accessories: 33WS foam windshield.
TS-10, X-10
Worn round the back of the head and under the hair line, this is a lightweight design intended to give freedom of movement over long periods in applications where intelligible speech is required, such as speech-making and lecturing. The headband is made from a hard- wearing nylon composite which will withstand a robust work out and yet can be returned to its original shape.
Omni-directional electret condenser. Response: 50Hz-12kHz +/-3dB. Impedance: 2200 ohms. Supply: 2-10V 14-25mA. Cable length: 1.2m.
Included accessories: WS foam windshield.
SJ-66, TS-66, X-66
With similar features to the Trantec -44 Series microphones, above, but with an extended high frequency response, this is aimed at the same applications, is of more slim-line construction and is available with blue and yellow, as well as black, goosenecks.
Super-cardioid electret condenser. Response: 200Hz-16kHz. Impedance: 3000 ohms. Supply: 2-20V 50uA. Cable length 1.5m.
Included accessories: 44WS foam windshield.
SJ-22, TS-22, X-22
One of the smallest and lightest headband microphones available this is be worn around the head and may be hidden discreetly under the hair. The capsule, optimised for speech and vocals, is mounted on a boom that can be bent into shape for best positioning. A small membrane in the capsule housing protects the capsule from moisture, make-up and any other contaminents. This can be replaced cheaply and simply to preserve optimum performance. The headband is engineered from a hard-wearing nylon composite, selected to withstand the most robust use and yet adjustable to fit the head and ear shape of the user.
The -R (=red dot) suffix indicates that the microphone incorporates a -12dB pad (or attenuator) to avoid preamplifier overload when used with very high sound levels.
Omni-directional electret condenser. Response: 40Hz-18kHz, +/-3dB, Impedance: 4400 ohms. Supply: 2-10V 14-25mA. Cable length: 1.2m.
Included accessories: WS foam windshield.
Technical note:
Electret and condenser microphones used with radiomic transmitter body-packs usually require a low voltage supply that is normally provided by the pack. When used with other equipment adapters are required which take the place of the pack, plugging directly into a standard XLR-3 microphone connection. These derive a power supply for the microphone from a mixer or standard phantom power supply, and provides a balanced output.
