UNITE TECHNOLOGIES CL-Amp POWER MONITORING SYSTEM
The CL-Amp provides non-invasive, real-time monitoring of current for any device or power strip, rated up to 32A, by simply placing the device over a power cable and twisting to lock into place. It increases visibility of power demand, providing greater control in the ability to identify available capacity, calculate 'what-if' scenarios, perform risk analysis and drive down costs, thereby greatly improving the drive for energy efficiency.
Optional software enables polling and data capture, providing detailed management information and reports for capacity planning and trend analysis.
CL-Amp
An open fork in the CL-Amp enables it to be placed directly over a power cable and a choice of locking-ring collars are provided to suit most international 13A, 16A and 32A cable sizes. Collars supplied support 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 13mm, 14mm, 15mm, 16mm and 18mm diameter cables. Each locking-ring separates into two halves and is placed around the power cable and pushed into the CL-Amp clamping bore, retaining the cable with a neat twist and lock action.
An LED display provides a two-digit readout, measuring range 1.0A - 60A, 90-250V AC. It can be calibrated to cable types to provide Ampere current readings to, typically, +/-3 percent accuracy.
An RJ45 connector is provided for direct RS232/RS485 connection to the Unite Technologies PowerHawk2, Hawk-i2, Hawk-i3 and Eagle-i monitoring units, providing SNMP data collection, monitoring, and configuration of the CL-Amp.
A very lightweight device, it is designed to be installed at any convenient location on the cable. Dimensions: 134 x 88.5 x 41mm. Weight: 135g.
The unit requires a 12V DC power supply at 60mA. This is typically supplied direct from the monitoring unit, but a plug-in power supply is supplied with individual CL-Amp units.
PowerHawk2
The PowerHawk2 is a cost-effective monitoring and control unit designed to provide single-rack level power and environmental monitoring, using a single IP address.
It supports both RS232 and RS485 serial port communication protocols via two RJ45 inputs for connection of CL-Amp or other compatible sensors. In addition, two environmental input sensors are supported, which can be any combination of temperature, humidity or other digital sensors such as door open/close, water sensing or shock sensing.
The PowerHawk2 supports standard network communication protocols TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, TFTP, SMTP, HTTP, HTTPS and SNMP V1 / V2.1C. All units are shipped with a predefined IP address and mask, which must be used to access the unit for configuration, allowing the user to set up any IP address values for the unit through an HTTP/HTTPS web interface.
It allows up to five SNMP Network Management Station (NMS) addresses to access the unit. Alarm conditions will generate trap messages, which can be directed to a maximum of ten, specified, management stations. SNMP alarm trap thresholds may be set on any of the input measured parameters, i.e. volts, amps, kVA, kWHr, temperature, humidity and switch states.
A simple client application, Env-U, will monitor up to 25 PowerHawk2 devices. Using standard SNMP protocol, Env-U displays alerts and logs data for a rolling 62 day period. This simple application provides both a live and historic view of the data allowing basic management reports to be easily created and exported into Excel or CSV formats.

CL-Amp Kit
A ready to use 'out of the box' system, comprising two CL-Amp units (with a full set of collars), a PowerHawk2, one temperature sensor, a CD with the Env-U software, two 2-metre RJ45 connecting cables for the CL-Amps and instruction manual. With both CL-Amps and the temperature sensor connected, one sensor port remains available for an additional environmental sensor (not included).
