AUDIONICS EMU IP-CONTROLLED POWER SWITCHER
A twelve output power distribution unit with embedded web server, the EMU functions as a typical rack-mounted power distribution strip, except, crucially, it may be monitored and controlled over an IP network, either a LAN, WAN, or the internet. Individual outputs may be switched on or off, or cycled (useful for re-booting equipment). The user can elect to be notified of fuse failure and UPS activation via email alerts. There are two models, master and slave. The master unit contains the embedded web server, and can control a further seven slave units via an RS485 serial data link.
Each unit has twelve IEC outputs on the rear panel. Power input is via a 20A Powercon connector. A single RJ45 connector connects to an ethernet network. The RS485 link is accomplished by a 9-pin D-sub connector. A UPS with a closing contact may be connected to ground a pin on the same socket. A serial port is provided for set-up, which allows setting of IP address, user name and password. The front panel has the input master fuse (16A) and twelve fuses, each 6A, for the 12 output channels. Each channel fuse has an associated LED indicating: “Channel on, fuse OK” / “Channel off” / “Channel on but fuse blown”. Two further LEDs indicate LAN connectivity and activity. A designation strip is provided for labelling.
The outputs may be programmed to switch on sequentially upon “power-up” to reduce current surge. Outputs can also be be set up as “non-critical”, so in the event of a need to reduce power load, these outputs may be turned off by the UPS. All remote control is via a standard web-browser.
An alternative model is offered without output fuses, the inlet master fuse (16 Amp) is retained.
