Description
STUDIO CHAIRS
Studio operator’s chairs have to meet extremely exacting standards which may include continuous (24 hours a day, seven days a week) occupation, rapid adjustment for different operators, comfort and support for extended usage, and of course must comply with all current employment and health and safety regulations. These specialist needs are not always appreciated by office furniture suppliers (for whom continuous use means 9am-5pm Monday to Friday - if only!!).
Canford has been meeting these needs for many years and supplied operator’s chairs for many IR and BBC radio stations. Sadly, the popular Sensor chair is long since discontinued, but it's successor, the Please chair, has recently undergone a makeover by leading manufacturer Steelcase (formerly Steelcase-Strafor), and is available in (amongst others) the matching Gaja fabric range from former models. All studio chairs carry an 8 year manufacturer’s warranty (with the exception of a 3 year warranty on standard upholstery), although this is not “on-site”, so in the unlikely event of problems, the chair is required to be returned to Canford for attention. Note that if the chair is utilised for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, this warranty only covers the chair for 2 years, 8 months in total, with reflecting warranty periods for usage that differs between these two amounts. Studio chairs are normally supplied with hard castors for use on carpeted floors, but soft castors, for tiled surfaces, are available at no extra cost. Covering options (standard fabric or 24/7 fabrics available) mean that chairs are manufactured against individual orders with a delivery time of 2-8 weeks from confirmation of order. A fabric sample card is available on loan. Please note that chairs do not automatically come with 24/7 rated, material covering and that this must be requested at extra cost dependent upon fabric chosen.
“Please” Studio Chairs
An improved sleeker design with two separate polypropylene back sections for lower (lumbar) and upper (thoracic) back support, providing even greater comfort on long sessions and flexibility for different operators. The standard version has larger 65mm castors, a lighter aluminium base, adjustable seat-height and depth, lumbar tension, back height and variable tilt limiter (4 settings), with the newer version offering simplification of the user adjustments (there is now a numbered dial for both the upper and lower torsion controls, making it easier for the user to quickly re-set to their own known settings if the chair has been used by a different person). Different fabric colours may be used for different panels, giving a truly distinctive finish. Available with or without height, width and depth adjustable plain arms (chairs without arms are recommended for mixer operating positions). As well as being awarded the FIRA Ergonomic Excellence Award, this improved Please chair comes with an Environmental Product Declaration (99.1% of the chair’s weight can be recycled at the end of it's lifetime). Other options, available at extra cost, include real leather covering, upholstered arms and adjustable headrest.
“Please” Visitor Chair
A stylish visitor chair with sled base, fabric-covered seat with a breathable material, flexible back, suitable for waiting and rest areas. Stackable up to 4 high on ground, or 10 high on a suitable trolley.
Ordering note: Please specify fabric type and colour when ordering. If you do not specify otherwise, hard castors, suitable for use on carpeted floors, will be supplied, along with a non 24/7 fabric.
