A range of extremely rugged TAC (tactical) fibre cables designed specifically for the most demanding of outdoor applications including outside broadcast, touring, sporting venues and stadiums. The tight buffered construction exhibits excellent impact and crush resistance, and has a very flexible, abrasion and chemical resistant PUR jacket. Beneath the jacket is a swellable yarn which expands if it comes into contact with water and seals minor cuts or punctures in the jacket. The compact round cable is easily reeled and has a low shape memory. Singlemode and multimode versions with 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 or 12 cores are available.
The G.657A specification singlemode fibre is optimised for use at 1310nm and 1550nm wavelengths. The ITU specification defines G.657A fibre as 'bend insensitive', meaning that when bent to its minimum recommended radius, the attenuation is up to 25 times lower than that of an equivalent standard G.652 type under similar conditions.
The multimode version has a 50/125 OM3 core optimised for 850nm and 1300nm suitable for transmission rates up to 10Gbit/s.
All cables have a predicted life of more than 30 years.
