DPA MINIATURE MICROPHONES
DPA Microphones began as the distribution arm of Bruel & Kjaer studio microphones, but are now manufacturing the microphones themselves, hence the change of name. The 4000 series microphones still utilise Bruel & Kjaer capsules.
These miniature microphones use a newly designed 5.4mm pre-polarised condenser element with a vertical diaphragm, specifically to cope with sweat, humidity, wind and “popping”.
The acoustic response of the microphone is selected by a choice of two “protection grids”, supplied with each microphone. The short grid gives a 3dB soft boost at 8-20kHz and is intended to be used when the microphone is mounted on the performer’s head. The long grid gives a 10dB boost at 12kHz for chest placement. The grids can be detached from the microphone and cleaned of sweat, make-up etc. with alcohol. The microphones are fitted with 1.75m cable terminated in a “MicroDot” connector. A range of adapters for different wireless transmitters and direct cable connection is available. A range of fixing clips (not supplied) is also available.
DPA4060
Available in black, beige or white, the DPA4060 has nominal sensitivity of 20mV/Pa, and 23dB(A) noise-floor re 20µPa. If powered correctly, the microphone will be able to handle sound pressure levels up to 134dB SPL before clipping occurs.
DPA4061
Available in black, beige or white, the DPA4061 is acoustically identical to DPA4060, but the sensitivity is adjusted to 6mV/Pa to match the most sensitive transmitters on the market or extremely high sound levels. The noise-floor of the DPA4061 is 26dB(A) re 20µPa. If powered correctly the microphone will be able to handle sound pressure levels up to 144dB SPL before clipping occurs.
DPA4062
Available in black or beige, the DPA4062 is acoustically identical to the DPA4060, but the sensitivity is adjusted to 1mV/Pa to match the most sensitive transmitters on the market or extremely high sound levels. The noise floor of the DPA4062 is 33dB(A) re 20µPa. If powered correctly the microphone will be able to handle sound pressure levels up to 154dB SPL before clipping occurs.
DPA4066
Available in black or beige, the DPA4066 is a headworn microphone with a thin, pre-formed, steel headband. The headband may be bent gently for final fit and the overall result is secure placement with minimum visibility and a clear sound. The microphone is electrically and acoustically identical to the DPA4061, suitable for “close-mic” use with most microphone transmitters.
Adapters
These adapters allow DPA miniature microphones to be connected to various radio microphone transmitters or standard 48V phantom power XLR connector. Note that these adapters contain circuitry to pass the correct supply voltage to the microphone, so may not be suitable for use with other miniature microphones.
