ASC MD-REPORT! - Retrofit kit
For those with an existing domestic MiniDisc recorder who have become fed up with fumbling with mini-jacks and changing batteries, this retrofit kit includes carry-case, strap, rechargeable battery and mains power supply, for the user to retro-fit to their own recorder. This gives a compact and lightweight portable recorder package which provides a rugged and flexible interface more suitable for news and interview gathering.
The user's unaltered recorder is fixed to a chassis using existing securing points. The chassis also houses a power supply, professional audio interface, monitoring and standard connectors to the recorder. Users should check the position of the controls and the opening of the disc recess cover on their unit, to ensure it is physically compatible (some units have covers that "open the wrong way"!).
The power supply takes either 4 "D" size dry cells or a single rechargeable battery, which gives 6-8 hours continuous use. Balanced XLR mic/line inputs and a mono XLR and stereo mini-jack line level output are provided, with a maximum input and output level of +20dBu. A stereo jack headphone socket and built-in monitor loudspeaker have level control and source/recorder switching. A switch allows mono recording on both channels from the left input.
The chassis is enclosed in a soft protective case which also has a handy pocket for mics, adapters, spare discs etc and a wide shoulder-strap. Supplied complete with mains supply/charger.
