BIAS PEAK AUDIO EDITING SOFTWARE - FOR MAC
A stereo editing, processing and mastering application for the Macintosh computer, Bias Peak Pro's flexible approach and extensive functions makes it suitable for many applications, with various versions designed to meet most needs and budgets.
Bias was founded in 1994. Their range of audio software solutions for the Macintosh platform has grown in reputation over this time.
File Formats Supported
Reads and writes AIFF, SDII, QuickTime, MP3, ACC (MP4), Wave, AU, Sonic AIFF and JAM image. DDP export is optional and not available for the LE version. The DDP (Disc Description Protocol) export extension is available to special order, please contact Sales. Peak Pro can also save MP2 and FLAC file formats.
Platform and Hardware Requirements
Apple Mac G4, G5, or Intel-based Mac (1GHz processor or greater recommended) required. Operating system: Macintosh OS X v.10.5 or higher. RAM: 512MB or more recommended. Screen resolution: 1024 x 768 minimum. Hard disk: 430MB available free disk space for installation, 18ms average seek time or faster. Third-party audio hardware may require compatible Core Audio drivers. QuickTime 7.0 or later required.
Licensing and Support
Bias products are licensed for use on a single computer. Software authorisation is via a serial number that is activated online. Note that a USB key is supplied for the Peak Master Perfection Suite in the XT bundle. BIAS STUDIO LE
This is the 'Lite' version of the Peak Studio stereo editing software-package suitable for multi-media, pod-casting, basic sound design, music production and broadcasting applications. LE comprises the powerful core elements of Peak Studio at an affordable price. Features include destructive and non-destructive, sample-accurate, editing and unlimited undo/redo with graphic edit histories. LE supports VST and Audio Unit effect plug-ins as well as virtual instruments and MIDI hardware. Peak Studio LE Production Pack included offering a basic range of plug-ins, audio loops, sound effects and a sample player. SoundSaver software is also featured enabling easy archiving and restoration of old vinyl and tape recordings. Peak Studio LE can also compile and burn Red-Book CDs. Sample-rates up to 96kHz at 24-bits are supported, (hardware dependent). Further processing and enhancements include metadata support, a record notepad which enters marker cues when recording, iTunes integration, voice over ducking DSP and support for up to 3 simultaneous plug-ins. Variable bit rate MP3 encoding is now included as standard and the playlist now has a graphical waveform interface.
BIAS PEAK PRO STUDIO
This, the full, unrestricted version, is more suited for advanced sound design, archiving, mastering, music production and broadcasting. As well as the core features present in Peak LE, additional DSP and editing tools are offered as well as batch file-processing. 'Tape' style 'scrubbing' is available to ease location within the audio files and the number of plug-in effects that can be used simultaneously is unlimited, but hardware and or processor dependent. The play-list and CD burning facilities within Peak Studio are more graphical and cross-fades can be auditioned. Sample-rates up to 10MHz at 32-bits are supported, but again, hardware dependent. Further facilities encompass improvements to the user interface as well as the playlist editing allowing more accurate and custom cross-fade modes. Playlist zooming tools now include auto-zoom to crossfade and zoom to sample level. A suite of plug-in’s, audio loops, sound effects are presented in the package which includes Bias Reveal audio analysis tool, Soundsoap noise reduction, Freq EQ, Sqweez compressor/limiter and Vbox plug-in routing matrix and many other processing tools. New additions to Peak Studio offers a ‘Declipper’ DSP tool for repairing clipped audio signals, DDP export (Disc Description Protocol), variable bit rate MP3 encoding, Pro-Tools playback key command support, SoundSaver software for archiving and restoration of old vinyl and tape recordings as well as multichannel audio editing support allowing surround sound as well as mono/stereo editing and processing.
BIAS PEAK STUDIO XT
This consists of Bias Peak Studio, the SoundSoap Pro audio restoration tools and the SoundSoap 2 noise-reduction and vinyl restoration tools. Also included is the Peak Master Perfection Suite of plug-ins which comprise high-performance parametric, graphic and spectral matching EQs, multi-band compressor/limiters, pitch-correction processor, expander/gate, as well as an audio analysis tool. This package is useful for archiving and audio restoration work, as well as extensive sound design, broadcast and music production work.
