SADIE AUDIO WORKSTATIONS - Software Options - Third Party
Third party developers offer a variety of software options to extend
the facilities offered by a Sadie DAW. These include audio restoration
tools by CEDAR and file interchange extensions which are exclusive to
the SADiE platform.
The Studio Audio Disk Editor (SADiE) combines hardware DSP with software control on Windows-based platforms. Since 1992 the range has gained an enviable reputation for ease of use, reliability and speed of processing.

Third party software options are licensed for use on a single computer. Technical support and software updates are available online at www.sadie.com.

SADiE Version 6 compatible third-party software options listed below will become available sometime in 2010.
Cedar Noise Reduction
These plug-ins give the Sadie workstation the noise-reduction processing, normally to be found in Cedar's rack-mounting hardware, in software, allowing restoration and corrective remedial work to be undertaken. Cedar plug-ins will process files up to 96kHz sample-rate apart from DeThump96 which supports 44.1kHz. and 48kHz only.
Cedar Retouch 96
This has tools that locate unwanted artefacts accurately in both time and frequency, be they tonal or resembling broadband noise. They are then replaced with audio derived from the surrounding audio signal. All other audio remains unprocessed.
Cedar DeNoise 96
Providing up to 20dB noise reduction without side effects, this plug-in is equally adept at removing hiss, air-conditioning noise, time- code bleed, outdoor ambience, or any constant background noise. The noise curve can be modified on screen, and these curves can be saved to disk for recall at a later time.
Cedar DeClick 96
Two processes are offered for the removal of clicks from programme material. Manual De-Click uses Sadie's region-editing feature to highlight the individual clicks in the audio waveform that will be affected by the De-Click algorithm for precise click removal. Auto De-Click allows the user to process part or all of an entire play-list as an off-line process.
Cedar DeThump 96
This removes unwanted 'thumps' from programme material that can be up to one second in length. On removal of a thump the software analyses the low-frequency content of the surrounding audio and interpolates it so that no low-frequency drop-out is audible on the processed content.
Cedar DeCrackle 96
This is a dedicated tool for removal of crackle from audio recordings. While a conventional click-detector will often find it difficult or impossible to detect the damage that leads to crackle, the DeCrackle96 plug-in has been developed specifically for the removal of the many forms of impulsive buzzes and amplitude distortions that make up such artefacts and differentiates clearly between the problem and the genuine signal. The process offers transparent restoration of severely damaged material.
AAF Import and Export File Exchange
This plug in expands the file interchange capabilities of SADiE to include Advanced Authoring Format. AFF is an industry-driven, cross-platform, file format that allows the interchange of data between multimedia authoring applications. The file format allows media such as video and multi-channel audio to be transported as well as meta-data which is information about the media being transported. Having AFF capability extends the portability of projects in scenarios where SADiE is not used throughout the production process.
OMF Import and Export File Exchange
This plug in expands the file interchange capabilities of SADiE to include Open Media Files. OMF is an industry-driven, cross-platform, file format that allows the interchange of data between multimedia authoring applications. The file format allows media such as video and multi-channel audio to be transported as well as meta-data which is information about the media being transported. Having OMF capability extends the portability of projects in scenarios where SADiE is not used throughout the production process.
