HARRIS OLT-20A OPTICAL LOSS TESTER
The Harris OLT-20A is a multi-function test instrument for multimode and singlemode fibre optic networks and cabling. The compact battery or mains-powered unit is extremely rugged and is ideal for installation, rigging or OB environments, as well as test bench use. The OLT-20A integrates a single-mode transmitter suitable for both single mode and multi mode fibres, and a multi mode and single mode receiver. The calibration of the laser transmitter and power meter in a single unit avoids common errors caused by mismatched or un-calibrated independent laser sources and power meters.
The hand held unit is capable of testing both the power levels of external sources, and fibre-link losses using its internal FP-LD laser source. The laser output is either CW (continuous wave), or may have one of three modulation frequencies (270/1K/2K Hz) applied for multi-channel identification if up to four units are used simultaneously.
The single mode output is switchable between 1310nm and 1550nm and the power meter input is calibrated for 850nm, 1300nm multimode and 1310nm, 1490nm, 1550nm and 1625nm singlemode. Measurements include direct loss (dB), link-loss and absolute power measurement displayed as dBm or uW. Input and output connectors are FC/PC, with optional adapters to SC or ST interfaces. An optional three metre FC to FC optical patch cord is also available.
Power is provided by an internal 9v (PP3) battery or an AC adapter with either a UK or Euro plug. The unit also features an auto switch-off function to prolong battery life, and a low battery-power indicator.
