Description
BAL HDTV FIXED LENGTH CABLE CLONES
The BAL FFC range of fixed-length clones provides a most convenient method of simulating the effect of cable on HDTV serial digital signals without compromising accuracy. Each unit emulates a specific cable-length in a metal-shielded barrel assembly with a male and female BNC 75 ohm connector on opposite ends. Overall length: 125mm. Diameter: 29mm. Units can be cascaded to simulate greater lengths of cable.
The BAL FPC150A075 is a box fitted with BNC connectors containing four clones of 10m, 20m, 40m and 80m which may by patched together to give up to a total simulated length of from 10m to 150m in 10m steps. The box is fitted with female BNC connectors paired for each clone. The box size is 113mm x 107mm x 27mm.
In the serial digital datastream, adhering to SMPTE 292M for HDTV (High Definition TV), a data-rate of 1.5 Gb/s is used. Cable losses can be very significant at this frequency. The BAL FFC range of HDTV cable clones has a loss characteristic which accurately matches cable over the significant frequency spectrum of the serial digital signal. They can therefore be used as a more convenient substitute for actual cable when installing or testing HDTV serial digital equipment, ensuring sufficient margin (head-room) is maintained. All equivalent cable lengths are given for Belden 8281 cable. For cables such as BBC PSF 1/2M, 1/3M and RG59, alternative models of cable clones are available. These cable clones can also be used at 540 Mb/s.
