RYCOTE BOOM POLES (FISHPOLES) - Aluminium
Intended for demanding applications such as television news broadcasting, the Rycote A5 News Boom Pole is manufactured with high grade, 1.0mm thick, aluminium-alloy tubing and uses a unique, patented triple-cam locking system which, constructed with no metal components, both reduces weight and eases cleaning of the pole. This model has five sections, extending to a maximum of 2.5m, and is also available with an internal coiled microphone cable.
A-5 (N) Fishpole - No cable
Unlike traditional metal thread designs, the A5’s five sections can be locked or unlocked with a minimal 15 degree twist; the locking construction can still be disassembled for cleaning as required. The pole is made of tubes of 1mm thickness, increasing outwards in diameter from 17mm to 29mm, with a 3/8 inch mounting thread. As a result of the design, the pole is both rigid and extremely light-weight and yet still likely to have more stamina than its operator! Collapsed length: 0.66m. Extended length: 2.49m. Weight: 780g, with coil; 640g, without coil.
Optional accessories: The 53-618 coiled cable assembly may be retrofitted in the field, using simple tools. The A-5 (N) will then have the same functionality as the A-5 (N) CC described below.
A-5 (N) CC Fishpole - With Internal Cable
The A5 is also available with an internal coiled cable. The cable is a balanced pair of fine stranded copper cores (50/0.05mm) covered with a helical screen and sheathed in matt-black soft polyurethane to 3.85mm diameter. An 3-pole XLR socket is mounted in the base of the pole and, at the tip, the cable emerges with an external length of 400mm, leading to an XLR connector for connection to the microphone. Both connectors are Neutrik types, with gold-finished pins.
