These sophisticated testers check the charged state of both primary and rechargeable batteries. They do not perform a simple voltage check, but assess the remaining capacity in the battery, thus providing a more accurate indication of performance under load.
This compact tester checks cylindrical and button-type batteries such as AA, AAA, C, D, 9V (PP3 size), CR-123A, CR2, CR-V3, 2CR5 and CR-P2 lithium photo batteries, as well as lithium coin and most common primary button cells. The unit detects and selects between primary (alkaline/lithium) and rechargeable (NiMH/NiCd) characteristics. An LCD display shows available capacity in the battery (Good, weak or poor).
Ansmann Energy Check
This tester checks most commonly used primary and rechargeable batteries, including ‘button’ and ‘coin’ styles. Cylindical and rectangular sizes that can be tested are AA, AAA, C, D, 9V (PP3 size), 3V (CR-V3, CR123, CR2), 6V (2CR5, CR-P2) and 12V (A23). Most CR- type 3V lithium ‘coin’ cells, LR- type 1.5V alkaline ‘button’ cells plus V13/675/312 type 1.44V zinc-air cells are accepted. An LCD display gives a clear readout.
When the test sequence starts (initiated by insertion of the small cells or by making contact with double end terminal types, or by making contact with the test probe to the base of cylindrical cells, the display indicates ‘calc’ to indicate the test has started. Subsequently it shows first the remaining available capacity in 10% increments, then the terminal voltage accurate to 2 decimal places. If the battery is minimally charged, flat or dead, the display shows ‘err’.
