For use by drummers, keyboard players or anyone requiring hands-free operation, the ATM73a has a 'comfortable, unobtrusive headband design' with a gooseneck to place the cardioid condenser capsule by the side of the mouth. It is permanently attached to a 1.4 metre cable fitted with a miniature XLR connector. This connects to a belt-mounted power module which operates on a 1.5V AA battery (1200 hours, alkaline) or 11-52V phantom power.
