DENON SD CARD PLAYER - DN-F400

A professional, rack-mountable digital audio player for broadcast and installed sound applications, the DN-F400 is a suitable replacement for cartridge or CD jingle players in radio studios, or can be used as a spot announcement player in sound contracting installations. Stereo or mono MP3 or WAV audio files are replayed from a removable SD or SDHC card, triggered by buttons on the front panel, serial or parallel remote control commands, or from the optional RC-400S Remote Controller.

Stereo or mono audio files in WAV and MP3 formats are supported. The internal file-management system allows the operator to step through all available files on the display for selection. The selected file is then played with a single key-press. If the SD card contains an M3U format play-list file in the root directory, the sound files will be ordered according to the play-list. Normal audio player 'transport' controls such as pause, stop, skip and search are provided. Rear DIP switches allow alternative play modes such as continuous, random or repeat-play to be set at installation. Individual sound files may be replayed immediately and other unit functions actioned with serial commands at the RS-232C remote-control port, or by contact closures at the parallel remote-control port.

The front panel has a bright multi-function display. In normal mode this shows elapsed or remaining audio clip-time, current folder and file-name and play-back mode. The memory card slot is adjacent, and its cover may be sealed with a screw for security. There are dedicated keys for 'Play', 'Pause and Stop', 'Play' and 'Stop' are internally illuminated. A 'display' key selects the clip-time display to show elapsed or remaining time; a third option is 'off'. A 'lock' key disables the controls on the front panel as a safety feature. 'Next' and 'Previous' keys perform their normal CD-style functions. The 'Next' and 'Previous' buttons also engage audio search mode during play-back. A 6.35 mm 3-pole jack socket provides headphone output, with an associated level control which retracts flush into the panel when not in use.

Connections on the rear-panel are unbalanced left and right audio outputs on RCA (phono) sockets, balanced left and right audio outputs on Phoenix-type connectors, a 25-pin female D-sub parallel remote control connector, a 9-pin female D-sub RS-232C serial remote control connector and a coaxial socket for DC power. Controls on the rear panel are power on/off, audio output level adjustment and an 8-position DIP switch for setting the player's various operational modes.

REMOTE CONTROL RC-F400S

This is a wired, desk-top controller providing an 'ergonomically designed, intuitive control unit' for instant playback of audio or audio elements, such as sound effects, using its hot-buttons, making it 'ideal' for live productions such as sporting and performance events, radio, television and theatres. It is also suitable for busy situations where the sound system is used by multiple, non-specialist operators. Twenty sound-files may be assigned at any one time to large, illuminated, individual buttons.
