HOODMAN SDHC MEMORY ADAPTERS
The Hoodman RAW SxSxSDHC is an alternative memory adapter for Sony SxS applications, and is designed for use with Hoodman RAW SDHC memory cards but is also compatible with SDXC and UHS-1 cards. A key feature is that it has been designed specifically for use in these camcorders and is smaller than the normal type of express card reader. This enables the memory compartment door to be fully closed, giving the required protection to the media.
The SDHC card is placed into the adapter, which then is inserted into devices that are designed for use with SxS series cards. Data can be downloaded through an express card port or by using an optional USB reader. Data transfer speed to computer via express card slot or via USB reader is 480Mb/s. The adapters can be hot-swapped in the camera in the same way as the original cards. The SxSxSDHC adapter is supplied complete with a protective storage case.
Hoodman RAW SDHC cards are Class 10, and have up to 30Mb/s read/write speed capability.
The SxSxSDHC adapter requires EX camcorder firmware of varying versions depending upon camera model. For further details regarding the version required, please see the Hoodman website at www.hoodmanusa.com . Units with earlier releases will require firmware upgrades before the adapter can be used. Although 'over cranking' Class 10 cards without limitation is not a problem, it is recommended that the original camcorder card be used for this mode of operation in place of Class 6 cards, despite offering up to 720p/42fps without issue. To swap memory cards, the adapter should first be ejected from the camera, to ensure the camera recognises the presence of new media.
Transcend SDHC and Sandisk Ultra II memory cards will also operate with this adapter, offering a less expensive but less reliable alternative. Cards from other manufacturers are not proved to work reliably in this application (usually due to controller firmware issues). Hoodman SDHC cards are manufactured in the USA.
