INTER-M VIDEO AND AUDIO MATRIX SWITCHERS
These simple yet effective switchers provide selection and allocation of separate audio and video sources to up to eight outputs using selection switches and LED displays or may be controlled using RS232 via Crestron, AMX or Extron systems or equivalents. Aimed at retail, audio visual and entertainment environments, they may be cascaded to increase flexibility in configuration and control.

This can switch eight stereo audio and eight video inputs to eight stereo audio and eight video outputs, under microprocessor control. Internal memory remembers the customer settings. If the power is lost the last settings are recovered. Vertical interval switching with Genlock is used for channel changing. The case is 2U high and may be used free-standing or rack-mounted.
The front panel has an LED display illustrating the current configuration. This takes the form of two rows of eight single character displays which show the channel number of the audio input and video input currently connected to each of the eight outputs. These are selected by two rows of eight selection buttons, one for outputs, one for inputs. First the desired output channel is selected, resulting in a blinking status indication on the button, which lasts for 10 seconds. During this period the desired source may be selected on the row below. There are six further switches: 'All' selects all output channels so that outputs may be switched globally to a single input; 'Off' disconnects output channels, which then indicate '0' on the display; 'A/V', 'Video' and 'Audio' allow the rows of selection switches to control both audio and video selection, video only or audio only, respectively. A 'Lock' switch prevents inadvertent operation and remains set even when power is switched off. The remaining control is a power switch with indicator.
The rear panel has two groups of eight pairs of RCA (phono) connectors providing the eight stereo audio inputs and outputs. Two groups of eight BNC connectors provide video inputs and outputs. Remote control connections use a 15-pin D-Sub connector for binary and a 9-pin D-Sub for RS232C. Power is connected via an IEC inlet.
Two units may be connected together either in Master-Slave or Master-Master configuration using the binary control connectors. In the former the Slave follows the instructions of the master control panel. In the latter, either panel can be used to control both units. The VAMS 0808
may also be controlled using the serial port. This uses standard RS232C communication and the control protocol is compatible with well known control systems such as Crestron, AMX or Extron systems or equivalents.
Video inputs and outputs: 1V pk-pk, composite, 75ohms, BNC. Response: 7Mhz, better than 0.5 dB. Noise and crosstalk: Both better than 60dB below signal. Audio inputs and outputs: 2.2V pk-pk, high impedance, unbalanced. Response: 20Hz - 20kHz, better than +/- 3dB. Distortion: better than 0.1% THD plus noise, 20Hz-20kHz.
