Canford have considerable experience in the development of level-limited headphones, and the range is now extended to include wireless earphones. The audio level is set at 85dB and an active dynamic range compression circuit is employed, maintaining good audio quality even at very high input levels. This gives the user protection from high output levels as well as from spurious interference that can be induced from neon lighting or strong inductive sources such as electric motors or large mains transformers.

The miniature earpieces receive audio signals from inductive sources such as body or neck-worn inductive transmitters or from inductive coils or loops installed within a building infrastructure. The earphone profile is a generic (one size fits most) shape optimised to fit into the right ear with left ear and custom-fits available as an option. The fit can be improved using earpiece sheaths. The earphones accept an A10 size battery (eg Rayovac A10, Duracell DA230) that will provide approximately 40 hours use at average programme levels. The rocker-style battery door doubles an on-off switch. All ear-canal earphones are fitted with a monofilament pull cord to facilitate removal from the ear and are supplied in a small padded pouch complete with a battery.

All ICM wireless earpieces are fitted with an advanced wax-trap system making them considerably more hygienic in use and which will prolong the life of the unit by presenting an effective, yet acoustically transparent barrier between the transducer and the human ear. Spare wax traps are available on a dial pack dispenser that also includes the removal/insertion tool.
