Canford has considerable experience in the design of headphone limiters and their use in the operational environment. Whilst virtually any headphone or headset can have a limiter fitted, using one of the seven types of standard multipurpose limiter circuits, this usually has to be in an in-line housing. By designing type-specific circuits for individual ear loudspeakers, these can be made small enough and appropriately shaped to enable them to be built into the earcup housing. Adding a limiter circuit to a headphone alters the input impedance.
For level limited headphones, see CANFORD LEVEL LIMITED HEADPHONES.

This lightweight headset features a dynamic, hyper-cardioid, 300ohm microphone with a response of 40Hz-16kHz. The closed-ear, supra-aural, headsets are designed for use in TV and radio broadcast applications, with high maximum SPL and high wearing comfort, in combination with a good noise attenuation and a frequency response of 20Hz-18kHz. The flexible gooseneck microphone boom, which can be used either on the left or right-hand side, is muted when the boom position is upright.
Sennheiser HMD 46-31 headsets have a dynamic microphone with noise compensation and a frequency response up to 12kHz. Designed for use in air traffic control applications, these lightweight headsets have high soft ear pads for high wearing comfort.
Closed ear design, these compact foldable headphones offer NoiseGardTM active cancellation, exceptional 50-hour battery life and an inline smart remote with mic for taking calls. Detachable single-sided, 1.4 metre straight cable, fitted with right-angled 3.5mm jack plug. Supplied limited at 85dBA. Impedance: Active 150 ohms/Passive 45 ohms. Frequency response 17 - 23000 Hz, In-line mic: dynamic closed.
Notes
1) The quoted limit level of 93dBA, 88dBA and 85dBA is for measurement using dummy head (or mannequin) systems. For measurements using flat plate calibrators the level will differ. Health and Safety authorities are more inclined to use the dummy head type measurement.
Spares
Certain ear loudspeakers and cables are listed as spares in a group. For further information, see CANFORD LEVEL LIMITED HEADPHONES AND HEADSETS Spare parts.
