Billed by JBL as “The most significant advance in sound contractor’s tools since the fishtape”, this range is designed “for indoor and outdoor applications ranging from restaurants, clubs and upscale retail establishments to health clubs and amusement parks”.
These speakers are intended for permanent installation. Enclosures are moulded from high-impact polystyrene, lightly textured, ready for painting when decor matching. High frequency drivers offer horn-tailored directivity and the compact dimensions and adjustable mounts supplied help the installer to place the full-range cabinets unobtrusively, with the easily-placed sub-bass unit available, for low-distortion low-band output.
Connection is by screw down terminal strip. Models with factory-installed 100V/70V line transformers are available, and the extensive use of high-tech materials promotes speaker life expectancy while increasing weather resistance. (Note that while some of the products are splash-proof, they are not claimed to be totally weather proof. The sub-bass unit is not intended for outdoor use). Protection circuitry is included inside the Control 23-1, 25-1 & 28-1L providing power limiting to protect cross-over network and transducers.
Mounting options
All models except the sub-bass unit are supplied complete with “InvisiBall” mounting kits. The shaft consists of a short steel rod with a ball at one end, and threaded at the other. This fits to a wall-mounting plate, which must be fastened to a suitable surface or one of the accessory products, prior to fitting the speaker. At the final installation phase, perhaps after decoration or refinishing the cabinets, the speaker is placed onto the ball so that it sinks within the cabinet and is gripped by the internal clamp. Vertical rotation of up to 37° off axis and horizontal rotation of up to 44° off axis is possible. The clamp is tightened up, after pointing the speaker, using the hex key provided, through a hidden access behind the logo badge, thus giving a high degree of theft prevention. Alternative shafts are available (MTC-**CM types) which may be used with suitable hook clamps or connected to Omnimount systems (see below).
Ultra-compact, for installation where space is limited, in foyers, retail or other applications where foreground/ background music and paging are required, with minimum aesthetic impact. With 76mm woven fibreglass coned woofer and 13mm high frequency diaphragm. Control 23-1 has fitted line transformer, single tap: 1.8, 3.7, 7.5, and 15W @ 70V, 3.7, 7.5 and 15W @ 100V.
Mid-sized system for sound re-enforcement in larger bars and multi-distribution in larger venues. Cone is 135mm, with 19mm high frequency unit. Control 25-1 has a wide coverage range of 100 degrees horizontal and 100 degrees vertical. Control 25-1 has transformer, with switch selectable taps 3.7, 7.5, 15 and 30W @70V, and 7.5, 15 and 30W @100V.
25mm high frequency driver and 200mm low frequency driver along with a continuous program power rating of 240watts and a coverage of 100 degrees horizontal and 100 degrees vertical mean this speaker is suitable for retail, health clubs, restaurants and hospitality. Control 28-1L doesn’t feature an internal transformer and therefore is only applicable to 8ohm operation.
