‘Pastures’ seem to feature in ‘end of era’ stories, as in ‘put out to pasture’, ‘he’s moved on to pastures new’ or, ‘pasture sell-by date’ (sorry – ed) but none of those aphorisms quite fit the retirement of our current Chief Executive, Chas Kennedy.
Despite the fact that Chas is cheerfully looking towards using his bus pass, he’s also still very much looking forward to retaining links with Canford where he’s been a fixture for the past 25 years, the last 7 of which as Chief Executive. “I’ve let it be known for some time that I had a wish to wind down my involvement as I approached retirement age,” he commented ”and I think that having seen the business successfully through the worst economic downturn in recent history, that this is a good time to look for my successor.”
That search for Chas’s successor begins immediately and anyone interested is invited to look in the relevant section of our website for further details. In the meantime, Chas will continue to lead the remarkable team that make Canford such a success. “It’s the people who make Canford and the hardest bit of leaving the role will be losing the privilege of leading such a talented group of individuals at all levels in the company but I hope I will still be in touch on a regular basis,” he said.
More frequent trips to his native Scotland, ‘pointlessly’ casting a fly on some Galloway lochs and learning Photoshop properly are amongst the activities planned to fill some of the hoped-for spare time available.
