Canford strengthens technical support team with key appointment

Canford Audio Technical Support

Canford has enhanced its ability to support live events and touring clients with the appointment of Katie Slater, who joins the Technical Support team as an Audio Engineer.

Katie joins Canford with a wealth of live event knowledge having worked front of house at Newcastle's 02 Academy, where major bands and solo musicians such as Arctic Monkeys, Adele and Amy Winehouse have performed.

Katie Slater, Audio Engineer said: "I have known Canford for years. Mainly as being the manufacturer of all the EMO products you see in theatres and other venues around the country. I've been impressed that Canford still manufactures in the North East of England and the team is so passionate about producing rugged problem-solving products. I am excited to join the Canford family and look forward to supporting customers and seeing where this new role could take me."

Based in Washington, Tyne & Wear, Canford has a long history of manufacturing distinctive products and through a collaborative design process, which incorporates the views of its customers, has successfully expanded its product range to cater specifically for the live event and touring markets.

John Driver, Head of Design and Fibre Technology commented: "Katie brings a huge amount of live events and touring knowledge to the team. Although Katie will provide technical support for our full range, her hands-on experience working in major music venues means she is ideally suited to our Green-GO and EMO brands, both of which are seeing strong growth."

EMO has an established reputation for producing high-quality, rugged DI boxes and other audio products built to withstand the rigours of life on the road. More recently, and after consultation with engineers in the field, Canford has expanded the range to include an entirely new series of EMO Power Distribution Units. Initially launched in 2019 before the pandemic took hold and decimated the live events industry, these rack mounting and floorbox designs have been in high-demand as the market recovers and prepares for a busy 2022 season.

Canford is also the sole UK and Ireland distributor of Green-GO, an innovative digital intercom system which operates securely over a standard ethernet network. This cost-effective solution has been disrupting the market and is now routinely used at major live sports, festivals, touring and corporate events. The recent release of a major free-to-access software and firmware update further improves this exciting range and opens new opportunities within the broadcast market.

John Driver added: "Green-GO has been one of our major success stories and Katie will assist our existing technical support staff who regularly provide on-site client demonstrations in addition to contributing to trade shows and future technical workshop events."
