This machine eliminates the tedious process of applying expandable sleeving to a cable bundle. Anybody who has ever applied expandable sleeving to a 25 or 50 metre cable bundle knows that ‘worming’ the sleeving along the bundle is extremely fiddly and time consuming. With the Expand-On sleeving applicator, the process is dramatically speeded up, considerably reducing labour costs.
The expandable sleeving is loaded onto the tube, then the cable bundle is pushed through the back end of the tube just until it appears out of the tube, then the sleeved bundle pulled from between the wheels. The wheels smooth the sleeving over the bundle for a neat finish. The process takes just a few minutes.
Component parts are available individually, or as kits. The minimum requirement is a base unit, (comprising two parts, the wheels unit and the tube fixing) plus one tube. Tubes are available in three diameters and two lengths, 900mm and 1800mm. Note that the base unit needs to be screwed onto a bench, table, plank or wood or other suitable surface. A folding trestle floor stand, with pre-drilled mounting holes, is available for both 900mm tube, and 900/1800mm tube (drilled for both).
Kits are available with a selection of components, in each of the two tube lengths.
The tube length and diameter should be chosen based on the size and length of the cable bundle. The tube diameter governs the maximum bundle diameter that can be handled.
The 12.5mm tube will accommodate 10mm-20mm sleeving (‘minimum bundle diameter’ rating in braided sleeving size tables). The 25mm tube accommodates 15mm-40mm sleeving, and the 37.5mm tube 25mm-50mm sleeving. An approximate, indicative guide to the bundle lengths that can be handled is shown below, but the actual lengths vary according to the flexibility of the sleeving being applied and the bundle diameter.

This unit is also available for hire. It is possible to hire a unit to evaluate the time savings, and then have the hire charge deducted if it is decided to purchase a unit. Note that carriage charges are not deductible, and the possibility of using this scheme must be registered at the time of booking. Retrospective credits are not possible.
