RYCOTE MICROPHONE SUSPENSION ACCESSORIES

This selection includes 'ultra soft' cables, for use between a microphone mounted in a shock-mount and a pistol grip where it can be secured and attached to a normal, stiffer, cable to go to a recorder and the Rycote Tac!T, pronounced 'Tas-It', filter cable - an in-line, active, 18dB/octave low-cut filter to reduce low frequency noise.

017022 - Cable with TAC!T Filter

The Rycote Tac!T, pronounced 'Tas-It', filter is an in-line, active, 18dB/octave low-cut filter with a 'knee' at approximately 60Hz. It is connected in-line between a condenser microphone and the mixer or recorder. When used on location, it passes, unaffected, 'virtually all' of the desired audio, while 'massively reducing wind and handling noise, and floor transmitted vibrations'. The energy in these extreme low frequency and infrasonic sounds can be very high, and if not attenuated, would otherwise cause overloads and disturbances across the entire audio spectrum. The filter is thus perhaps of greatest value in applications such as camera inputs where no low frequency tailoring is provided at all

Physically the filter is sold as a female to male cable, length 450mm; The filter is mounted within the body of one of the XLR connectors. The length is suitable for use between the microphone mounted in a shock mount to the pistol grip where it is secured in the handle ready to attach a more rugged cable to the equipment.

The filter is not switchable, and the electronically buffered circuitry 'ensures that its performance is consistent for almost all phantom-powered microphones and preamplifiers in general use'. It draws its power from the P48 phantom supply while also passing power on to the microphone. It is electronically symmetrical and does not disturb the intrinsic balance of the microphone circuit, nor does it introduce any signal loss for normal programme frequencies. Current draw is necessary for the circuit to operate - the device will not work with dynamic microphones that do not consume current.

017018 - 40cm XLR-3F/3M cable (4.8mm)

This is an 'ultra-soft', 3-pin XLR to XLR, short, microphone cable made for use with Rycote shock mounts but can, of course, be used in other applications. Typical usage is between the microphone mounted in a Softie or INV-7 HG MkIII shock mount to the pistol grip where it is secured in the handle ready to attach a more rugged cable to the equipment. The connector pins are gold-plated. Length 400mm, cable diameter 4.8mm.

017013 - 45cm XLR-3F/3M cable (3.0mm)

Again an 'ultra-soft', 3-pin XLR to XLR, short, microphone cable, this is 'for use with Super-Shield kits, S-series kits (discontinued), INV-6 and INV-7 suspensions', in similar applications to the 017018. Length 450mm, cable diameter 3mm.
