CWDM ('Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing') refers to the process of combining multiple singlemode wavelengths into a single, fibre optic cable. Depending on the transmitters, receivers and transceivers used, signals can be transported in either or both directions simultaneously. Each wavelength can be used to transport a different audio, video or data stream, or a combination of all three in the case of audio and data embedded in an SDI signal. The ITU- G.692.2 standard defines eighteen wavelengths from 1270nm to 1610nm, with a channel spacing of 20nm, which can be used within a CWDM system. The use of yellobriks fitted with CWDM SFP modules overcomes the restrictions involved in the distribution of broadcast-quality SDI video signals over long distances and preserves the full uncompressed quality at a distance of up to 40km. Lynx yellobrik CWDM video extender modules are fitted with an SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) 'cage' into which a CWDM SFP optical module must be plugged. They can be readily installed or hot swapped without tooling, or opening the yellobrik module.
Note that there are several incompatible SFP pin connection protocols and quality and reliability varies enormously between SFP manufacturers. It is therefore recommended that only Lynx Technik SFPs are used with yellobrik modules.
Lynx yellobrik CWDM Transmitters and Transceivers
The Lynx Technik yellobrik range of 3G-SDI video extenders consists of a single-channel transmitter, a dual-channel transmitter and a transceiver. They auto-detect any connected video signal from 270Mbit/s to 3Gbit/s as well as DVB-ASI and incorporate automatic cable equalisation. The optical output may be connected point-to-point for single-channel, long distance, transport, or up to eighteen CWDM wavelengths from additional yellobriks or other equipment, may be combined in a single fibre using yellobrik OCM multiplexers / de-multiplexers. They can be paired with any wideband yellobrik SDI fibre receiver (after de-multiplexing) such as ORX 1802 for simple conversion to SDI, or more complex yellobriks such as PDM 1284D to output SDI and de-embed AES in a single unit.
CWDM yellobriks are supplied without CWDM SFP modules, which must be selected carefully and ordered separately.
Included accessories: All yellobrik modules are supplied each with a plug-top power supply with UK, US, Australian and European plug fittings and hook and loop mounting pads.

OTT 1842 3G-SDI to Fibre Transmitter (CWDM) - Dual Channel
Dual channel, CWDM, fibre-optic transmitter. Channels are fully isolated and provide two independent optical outputs from one of the nine dual-wavelength (OH-TT) CWDM SFP modules. It may conveniently be combined with the dual-channel, wideband, receiver ORR 1802. Two 'TX Active' LEDs and a 'Power On' LED are located on side of module.

OTR 1840 3G-SDI / Fibre Transceiver (CWDM)
A CWDM fibre optic to SDI transmitter and receiver combined in a compact, self-contained, package.
