WISYCOM WIRELESS SYSTEMS - Radiomics

Wisycom RF solutions are 'designed as best in class' to meet the highest demands within professional broadcast audio capture. This range of wireless radio systems has been specifically tailored to suit the needs of film, television, sports, and radio broadcast, although not limited to those applications. Wisycom have incorporated compatibility options to suit third-party microphone capsules and digital video cameras and with an operating bandwidth of up to 370MHz, one system will cover differing location bandwidth availability.

RECEIVERS


MRK980 – 1U rackmount, 2-channel

Wisycom MRK980 is a 1U, Dante compatible, 2-channel, true diversity receiver with PTT (Push-to-talk) compatibility as an option. Each of the two receiving channels can work within a 1090MHz bandwidth (170-1260MHz) for greater flexibility, and there are 2400 switchable channels within 40 groups of 60 frequencies that are user customisable.

Configuration can be accessed via push/rotary controls and menu displayed on a yellow 64 x 256 pixel OLED display, or remotely via USB or Ethernet with compatible PC and MRK980 Manager software. The remote software also includes a spectrum analyser mode, frequency calculator and embedded database for archived setups. PTT (push to talk) enables the audio output to be re-routed from the main/line output to the dedicated auxiliary output when the PTT button is depressed on the associated transmitter.

As standard, MRK980 rear panel connections include IEC power inlet, word clock I/O via BNC connectors, Dante 1/2 and Control 1/2 via RJ45 connectors, digital audio AES3 via 3-pin XLR, 2x main out via 3-pin XLR/6.3mm jack, 2x auxiliary out via 3-pin XLR, 4x RF connectors (2x in, 2 x out). MRK980-DC has an additional DC power input. The optional Wisycom EXP1 board adds zoning via electronically balanced 3-pin mini-XLR connectors; monitor cascade via 5-pin mini-XLR connectors; and GPIO functionality via 6-pin mini-XLR connector.

MCR54 – Slot-in, 4-channel

This 4-channel, true diversity camera receiver operates within 470MHz to 1260MHz and has a switchable bandwidth of up to 790MHz. Within this bandwidth there are 40 groups of 60 frequencies that are fully user programmable and frequency adjustment can be quickly applied by use of the one-touch function to scan and sync. Four buttons located on the front panel allow the user to switch between monitoring modes and menu options on the intuitive OLED display.

MCR54 can be externally powered for constant use via Hirose connector when used with the BPA54 option, or via the optional BCA54 lithium battery pack. SLK54-IK and SLK54-SX adapters can be added as an option to give compatibility with SuperSlot/Unislot hardware or Sony cameras.

MPR52-ENG – Bodypack, 2-channel

Wisycom MPR52-ENG is a 2-channel receiver in the form of a beltpack. It has been designed primarily for the ENG sector to enable the user to wirelessly receive audio in a portable device – which can then connect to a compatible portable recording device. A bandwidth of up to 790MHz between 470MHz and 1260MHz enables use in various locations around the world (licence permitting).

The upper panel of MPR52-ENG features two SMA connectors for antenna A and B, a 3.5mm jack headphone output for monitoring, and a single 5-pin female mini-XLR for the audio output of both channels. Pin 1 is the ground; Pin 2 is channel 1 positive; Pin 3 is channel 1 negative; Pin 4 is channel 2 positive; and Pin 5 is channel 2 negative. A 5-pin male mini-XLR is provided for the AES3 digital audio output of both channels at 48kHz.

The wireless receiver can operate on 2x AA battery cells (alkaline or NiMH), or KLIC 8000 lithium-ion battery, DB50 lithium-ion battery, or DR9708 Duracell lithium-ion battery. The rechargeable battery can be charged directly through the integrated micro-USB-B connector, or dedicated battery charger.

Note: Wisycom advise the user not to use receiver whilst rechargeable battery is charging.

The front facing panel features a 128x64 pixel OLED display along with scan/down, sync/up, power/exit, and save/select buttons to navigate and select.

MTP41S - Bodypack

MTP41S is a compact and durable pocket transmitter that has been designed for professional applications such as broadcast, film and TV production and sports presenting. This unit has up to 232MHz bandwidth with 40 groups of 60 channels in its specific frequency range. Available in either 470-640Mhz (B7) or 510-698MHz (B3) options, this body pack transmitter, powered by a single AA battery; can be linked to most lavalier/headworn microphones that terminate on LEMO connection.

Menus displayed on the 96 x 36 pixel OLED display can be accessed with a 'joggle' selector and dual buttons, which also help for quick setup. Bright RGB LEDs, visible when the battery and switch concealing hatch is either open or closed, display power, RF transmission, battery status (greater than 25%/ less than 25%/ less than 12%), and modulation peak.

AF bandwidth: 45Hz - 21KHz, 3dB; 55Hz - 20KHz, 1dB. Battery life: 11hrs at 50mW, continuous Lithium; 8hrs at 50mW, continuous NiMH; 4.5hrs at 50mW, continuous alkaline. Dimensions (HxWxD): 73 x 56 x 17mm. Weight: 75g.


MTP60 - Bodypack

MTP60 wideband beltpack transmitter has a tuning range of 470MHz to 1075MHz making it a good option for touring across multiple regions. It can be monitored and controlled via Bluetooth, whilst an embedded recorder records .wav files directly to a micro-SD memory card. A haptic engine allows the engineer to program different vibration patterns that can alert the wearer discreetly and without audio or visual prompt.

Using 2x AA alkaline, NiMH, or Lithium battery cells, or a single Wisycom MPRLBP lithium battery, MTP60 uses ‘advanced linear technology’ to eliminate intermodulation thus giving more robust transmission and extended range. A 3-pin LEMO connector is compatible with most lavalier/headworn microphones with the same termination, and pin 3 of the connector can be controlled via an external PTT button.

A 128 x 64 pixel OLED display is positioned on the front facing panel along with ‘soft-touch’ buttons for menu navigation and parameter setup. Two RGB LEDs illuminate to signify audio, RF and battery status, whilst a single LED illuminates to signify recording to micro-SD card, and a final LED to signify charging.

Battery life: 10hrs at 10mW, alkaline batteries. Operating temperature: -10 to +55 degrees Celsius. Dimensions (HxWxD): 76 x 61 x 19mm, without clip. Weight: 140g, without batteries; 183g, with lithium battery.


MTB40S – Plug on

This plug on transmitter is designed to add wireless technology to most XLR terminated microphones, offering the same features as the MTP40S. MTB40S can also supply +48V phantom power to microphones that require powering.

MTH410 - Handheld

MTH410 handheld transmitter is ‘designed for professional wireless microphone applications’. It is compatible with the Wisycom MCM306 capsule – a DPA supercardioid capsule with 40Hz to 20kHz frequency range; or either SRE300-X or SRE301-X mechanical adaptors (see below for more detail).

Narrowband and Wideband switching allows the handheld transmitter to be compatible with legacy Wisycom receivers.

MTH410 uses ‘advanced linear technology’ to eliminate intermodulation thus giving more robust transmission and extended range. The transmitter is powered by 2x AA battery cells which are inserted into a hidden compartment accessed by unscrewing the top and bottom shafts. An OLED display and jog wheel allow for intuitive setup and navigation.
