Claimed by the manufacturer to be ‘the world’s easiest terminating RJ45 plugs’, these simplify twisted-pair terminations by allowing the wires to be inserted through the connectors and out of the front. This allows the technician to easily verify the proper wiring order before crimping the connector, thus reducing wastage and time. They are available for both Cat5E and Cat6, in both unscreened and screened versions, and are suitable for use with both solid and stranded wire.
Transparent snag-less boots and strain-relief type boots are available. Note that the Cat6 connectors require a boot of either design to be fitted in order to provide fully rated performance.
The assembly technique is to strip the cable sheath and untwist the pairs down to the sheath strip-point in the normal way for RJ45 connectors, then insert the wires through the connector (trimming them on a diagonal after getting the eight wires laid flat, ready for insertion, can aid insertion). Having checked they are in the correct positions, twisting the loose ends all together helps push the connector body down tightly onto the cable, seating it tightly in the rear of the connector. The special crimp-tool crimps the connector contacts and trims the surplus wire in a single operation.
