TASCAM MINIDISC RECORDERS - MD-02B

Intended for broadcast or installed audio applications, with a full range of recording, editing and playback functions these, 2U rack-mounting MiniDisc recorders have balanced and unbalanced analogue and S/PDIF digital inputs and outputs. Extended duration LP2 and LP4 MiniDisc formats are supported as well as normal stereo and mono modes. Recording can be started and stopped automatically on input signal level. Modes include group replay, repeat and program playback. Fade-in and fade-out times may be programmed. Editing functions include division, combining, moving, titling and erasure of tracks. A comprehensive infra-red remote control is included which duplicates most of the key commands on the front panel.

The front panel has a large bi-colour multi-functional display which, in normal operation, provides left and right recording-level bar-graph meters, track and time data, alphanumeric titles and various unit status flags. Transport controls are large 'Stop', 'Play', 'Record' and 'Ready' (pause) transport buttons, plus fast forward and reverse keys. Analogue input level adjustment is by separate rotary controls. Further keys select input source, 'Sync' record mode (automatic start/stop), 'Play', 'Edit' and 'Repeat' modes, access the menu system and select various display options. A multi-purpose jog wheel, with push-to-enter function performs track skip functions, menu navigation and is used with other unit features. Headphones may be connected to the 6.35mm 3-pole jack socket, with adjacent level-control. A 6-pin mini-DIN PS/2 socket allows connection of a standard QWERTY keyboard for track, group and/or disc titling, and other control functions. There is also a large, recessed power switch, a MiniDisc slot and a slide-switch enabling auto-play at power-up.

The rear panel has two pairs of RCA (phono) sockets for unbalanced analogue inputs and outputs, a further pair of similar sockets and a pair of optical connectors for S/PDIF digital input and output and a pair of XLR connectors for balanced analogue outputs. AC power is connected to an IEC inlet.
