WOHLER AMP1-16-M AUDIO MONITOR 16-channel, 3G/HD/SD-SDI, 6W RMS per side, 1U

Wohler eAMP series offers ‘fast and intuitive’ confidence monitoring of AES3 and analogue audio sources. Whether in the studio or on the road, eAMP units provide simultaneous selection and summing of the selected source. They also feature adjustable volume and balance controls, clear display of levels, and phase indications.

eAMP monitors have been designed to be easier to operate than the now-obsolete Wohler S8. They include a wide 7-inch LCD touchscreen display providing fast access to input sources, meters and menus, all augmented by hardware controls. Software upgrades include loudness, presets, web meters/monitoring/configuration and customized output routing. Dolby D, DD+ and E decoding are also optional add-ons.

eAMP1-8-M, eAMP1-16-M

Being the replacement models for AMP1-8-M, AMP1-16-M many of the features are the same, including dual input with 3G, HD, and SD-SDI. One of the main upgrades is the 7-inch LCD touchscreen which for better monitoring, menu navigation and selection, and adjustment. Another upgrade is the lower power consumption which is 19W as opposed to 60W. eAMP1-8-M is an 8-channel audio monitor, eAMP1-16-M is a 16-channel audio monitor. Both have been designed by Wohler for use in the studio or on the road.

Both units have automatic frame rate detection, which on the eAMP1-8-M allows the user to get quick selection and summing of up to eight audio channels and choose between two SDI inputs - toggling selection of channels 1-thru-8 or channels 9-thru-16. eAMP1-16-M allows the user to get quick selection and summing of eight audio pairs and choose between two SDI inputs and access 16-channels via 8 pairs.

Other standard features include volume and balance controls, push-button selection of audio channels, SDI looped outputs, and conversion to analogue on XLR. Finally, level meters and phase display on two 2.4-inch LCDs.

The rear panel hosts I/O connectivity including dual, balanced 3-pin XLR analogue outputs, RJ45 Ethernet connection for unit management, SDI 1 I/O on BNC, SDI 2 I/O on BNC, and a fifth BNC connection for selected SDI out. Mains connection is via IEC type input. The front facing panel hosts a USB connection for software updated and storage transfer, and a single 6.35mm headphone jack output with associated volume control. The class D amplifier allows the inbuilt speakers to produce 5watts RMS per side, 12watts peak.

Wohler eAMP1-S8-DA is an 8-channel, baseband only, audio monitor for AES3 and analogue signals. Connectivity includes dual RCA (phono) analogue input, balanced 8-channel analogue inputs/outputs via D-sub connection, analogue output via dual, balanced 3-pin XLR, and 8-channel AES I/O on 15-pin d-sub connector. Mains input is by way of IEC connector and system management connection is via RJ45. The 7-inch touchscreen display has a viewing angle of 160x160 degrees (HxV), and the speaker output is 5watts RMS per side, 12watts peak; with a peak acoustic output of 90dB SPL at 2ft.

Designed for use in broadcast studio, OB vans, and studio monitoring, Wohler iAM series of audio monitors include a variety of feature sets for multiple levels of use. iAM series audio monitors contain an onboard web server ensuring multiple units on the same network can be updated, monitored and controlled via a browser-based user interface. The same interface supports configuration with role-based authentication that protects critical configurations from unauthorized alteration.

iAM1-8 - 8-channel, 1U

iAM1-8 is an 8-channel, 3G-SDI and analogue audio monitor with triple 2.4inch touchscreens. The audio monitor also comes with loudness monitoring and phase status as standard. Designed for users who only need 8-channels of monitoring, iAM1-8 is said to be ‘easy to operate’, and provide ‘fast access’ to meters, menus and presets.

Audio loudness metering uses ITU-R BS.1770 or EBU R128 standards. Connectivity includes 2x 3G-SDI inputs via BNC connectors, 1x 3G-SDI output (of selected source) via BNC connector. An additional 8-channels of analogue I/O is obtainable via optional cards.

iAM2-8 - 8-channel, 2U

Wohler iAM2-8 shares much of the functionality of iAM1-8, however it is housed in a 2U rackmountable chassis. iAM2-8 has one fewer touchscreen than the three of the iAM1-8, however they are larger in form, measuring 4.3inches each. The speaker output power is 15watts RMS per side, 30watts peak, with a peak acoustic output of 104dB SPL at 2ft.

iAM1-12G - 16-channel, 1U

Wohler iAM1-12G is a 16-channel, 12G-SDI audio-only monitor that is IP ready. As standard iAM1-12G has 12G-SDI and analogue inputs, loudness monitoring and phase status. Featuring 3x 2.4inch touchscreen LCD panels, iAM1-12G is designed to be easily operated, providing fast access to meters, menus and presets. The speaker output is 5watts RMS per side, 12watts peak, with a peak acoustic output of 90dB SPL at 2ft.

iAM-SUM8, iAM-SUM16, iAM-SUM32

A sub-series of ‘easy to use’, IP-ready audio monitors/mixers with options of 8, 16 or 32-channel configurations. All versions have a single 7-inch touchscreen with a viewing angle of 160 x 160degrees, and feature access control to lockout unauthorised setting adjustment. The audio monitors can be configured to operate in either single channel or pair mode and offer 3G-SDI connectivity and a pair of analogue inputs and outputs as standard. Speaker output is 5watts RMS per side, 12watts peak.

Connectivity includes 2x 3G-SDI input on BNC connectors, 1x 3G-SDI output on BNC connector, and 1x pair analogue audio input/outputs on 3-pin XLR connectors. Audio loudness can be measures using ITU-R BS.1770 or EBU R128 standards.

Designed for use at home in quality control, outside broadcast, and live-to-air production environments, iAM-SUM provides ‘intuitive audio monitoring’ with access to signals or to user-definable presets of any individual signal source or a mix of sources for monitoring and mixing.

HRS-1S

Wohler HRS-1S is a 2-channel, self-powered audio monitor with two analogue input channels on 3-pin XLR, and a stereo loop-through. The unit contains two transducers that driven by two power amplifiers: one amplifier/driver combination handles midrange and high frequency information, while the second handles summed low frequency information below the 500Hz crossover point. This results in a speaker output of 5watts RMS per side, 10watts peak; 10watts RMS continuous bass, and 20watts peak.

The half-1U rack design allows this unit to fit into smaller spaces whilst providing focused sound for operators in an ultra near field (1 to 3 ft.) working environment, with a peak acoustic output of 95dB SPL at 2ft.

Extended high frequency response reveals potential problems with audio whine or hiss. Electronic rather than acoustic cancellation of bass frequencies provides positive audible detection of out-of-phase (reversed polarity) audio feeds. A 6.35mm headphone jack is provided on the front panel, and usage automatically mutes the speakers. Output limiter circuits are incorporated to protect the speakers, and magnetic shielding allows placement immediately adjacent to video monitors with no colour distortion.
