This professional type of phono (RCA) connector has a special sliding shell element which protrudes (under spring loading) out of the shell, around the pin, and retracts when mated, ensuring that the ground connection is made first, as with most other professional audio connectors. In addition it utilises the well proven Neutrik cable clamp chuck assembly, and accepts cables 3.0-6.5mm diameter by using two different size chucks, both supplied as standard. The body and centre pin are solid machined brass with a black plated shell and red or black colour coding band. The spring loaded ground contact is split to ensure good contact no matter what quality of socket it is mated with. Both the signal pin and ground contact are gold plated and the earth terminal is pre-tinned for ease of soldering.

A matching in-line socket is also available, with black shell, gold plated contacts, and is supplied with two sizes of cable chucks to handle cables up to 6.0mm diameter.
