SONY WIRELESS SYSTEMS - UWP Series Radiomics
Sony UWP wireless microphone systems use digital audio processors to provide high-quality audio, and because of this they have had a broad range of applications including ENG, EFP, handheld camcorders and DSLRs.
Unlike conventional analogue FM modulation wireless systems that convert the audio input to RF modulation via an analogue compander, the UWP series first converts the audio input to digital before processing through a digital compander, back to analogue, and then on to the RF modulation. This process is reversed on the receiving side to give a much improved transient response for added audio precision.
This range of wireless products operate on analogue FM modulation TV channels 33 to 41 (566,035 to 630,000 MHz).
The URX and UTX wireless systems can each be powered via 2x AA alkaline batteries or by external USB powering via a micro-USB input. This also allows for recharging any NiMH batteries inserted into the device.
The true diversity URX-P03/K33 is the most popular of the UWP series receivers and is included in the UWP-D11/K33, UWP-D11/K33-HR, UWP-D16/K33, and UWP-D12/K33 systems. Designed for ENG / EFP production applications, this durable, metal-bodied receiver can be attached to a camera's cold shoe when using the optional SMAD-P2 adaptor, or to a compatible camera's MI shoe by using the optional SMAD-P3.
A large 11.5 x 27.8mm LCD screen is clear in displaying the operating frequency, audio signal, RF signal, and battery status. An intuitive menu system can be selected and navigated using two buttons and a 'set' button. The power switch is situated above the screen for easy access when camera mounted. A headphone output enables the user to monitor the audio signal when the camera doesn't have it's own headphone output. A micro USB terminal allows the connection of an external USB power source, which as well as powering the unit can be used to recharge loaded NiMh batteries.
Battery operating time: Approximately 6 hours, at 25 degrees Celsius. Dimensions (W x H x D): 63 x 82 x 23.8mm, excluding antenna. Weight: 176g, including batteries.
The URX-P03D is a two channel version of the URX-P03/K33. An internal three channel mixer allows the user to mix between the two wireless channels and the 3.5mm unbalanced microphone input. The receiver is true diversity when used in single channel mode, or dynamically switched diversity when operated in two channel mode. The optional SMAD-P3D MI shoe adaptor allows electronic connection between the receiver and compatible camera hardware.
Battery operating time: Approximately 5 hours, at 25 degrees Celsius. Dimensions (W x H x D): 63 x 82 x 28.4mm, excluding antenna. Weight: 210g, including batteries.
UTX-B03/K33 Belt pack Transmitter
The UTX-B03 has been designed with a rugged metal body to withstand tougher operating environments such as those experienced in ENG or EFP applications. The 3.5mm, locking, jack connector gives compatibility with microphones such as the ECM322BMP headset microphone, ECM44BMP lavalier microphone, or ECM77BMP lavalier microphone. Like the URX-P03 receiver, a large 11.5 x 27.8mm LCD display helps give an intuitive screen with menu functionality that provides options to make user setting changes. A micro USB terminal can be used to connect to a compatible USB power source to provide external power. The operating channel can be automatically set by infrared syncing with a compatible receiver such as the URX-P03 or URX-P03D.
Battery operating time: Approximately 8 hours, at 25 degrees Celsius. Dimensions (W x H x D): 63 x 82 x 20mm, excluding antenna. Weight: 149g, including batteries.
UTX-B03HR/K33 Belt pack Transmitter
The UTX-B03HR has all the functionality of the UTX-B03, however the 3.5mm locking jack microphone socket is replaced with a SMC9-4S Hirose input connection - compatible with lavalier microphones such as ECM44BC, ECM77BC, or ECM88BC. This change of connector type gives the unit the slight 2g increase in weight over the UTX-B03 version.
UTX-P03/K33 Plug-on Transmitter
UTX-P03 is a metal bodied XLR plug-on transmitter designed for ENG or EFP applications where a handheld microphone is required. It can provide 48V phantom power to compatible microphones via the XLR connection. Features such as the screen and navigation are the same as other Sony UTX transmitters.
Battery operating time: Approximately 8 hours, at 25 degrees Celsius. Dimensions (W x H x D): 42 x 42 x 102mm, excluding antenna. Weight: 197g, including batteries.
UTX-M03/K33 Handheld Transmitter
UTX-M03 handheld wireless transmitter is compatible with the URX-P03 and URX-P03D portable receivers. A uni-directional dynamic capsule has been fitted, however optional alternative microphone heads, such as the CU-C31, CU-F31, or CU-F32 can be interchanged for optimum performance. The internally fitted antenna helps improve ergonomics.
Battery operating time: Approximately 8 hours, at 25 degrees Celsius. Dimensions (L x Diameter): 259 x 47.8mm. Weight: 296g, including batteries.
