SHURE RADIO MICROPHONES - FP Series
These wireless systems are optimised for broadcasting productions and camera applications. Transmitters are handheld, with a choice of SM58 cardioid or VP68 omnidirectional capsules, beltpack, with or without WL183 omnidirectional lavalier microphone, or plug-on, for dynamic or battery powered condenser microphones. The capsules of the handheld types may be exchanged for a range of alternatives. The receiver is a lightweight, battery-powered, diversity type, designed for on-camera mounting. Complete systems are offered, each containing a mix of these transmitters and receivers.
The components and systems are offered set for channel 38 (606 - 614 MHz), which is the range for licensed radio microphones and in-ear monitors in the UK. A licence is required to operate this equipment in channel 38. Up to date information should be available at www.jfmg.co.uk.
The components use Shure's patented 'Audio Reference Companding', for 'crystal-clear audio'; up to twelve compatible systems may be operated simultaneously. Convenient facilities include:
Automatic frequency selection: This locates an open frequency. Using the Scan button, push and hold to find an open group and channel, or push and release to find an open channel in the current group. Group and channel may also be entered manually into the receiver, using a combination of the two buttons.
Automatic transmitter setup: This syncs the transmitter to the receiver frequency. Using the Sync button, align receiver and transmitter and press sync.
Working range: 100m, line of sight, typical. Tone key: 32.768kHz. Audio frequency response: 45Hz to 15k Hz +/- 2dB, depending on microphone. Distortion: Better than 0.5% THD, typical, at +/-38 kHz deviation, 1kHz tone. Dynamic range: Better than 100 dB, A-weighted. Operating temperature: -18 to +57 degrees C, depending on battery characteristics.
FP5 Receiver - Portable
Designed for on-camera mounting, this is a lightweight, battery-powered, receiver, housed in a moulded polycarbonate case. For use with Shure FP and SLX wireless components, it has diversity antennas, for consistent reception of signal transmission. It is powered by 2x AA batteries.
Top surface: Tri-colour power LED; on, low battery alert, critical low battery, battery dead. RF LED; transmitter sync. Press and hold power button. Output connector: 3-pole male miniature XLR, balanced. Two fixed antennae.
Side: Output level control; rotary.
Front: LCD screen; displays settings for group and channel, battery life. Scan button. Sync button. Infra red window.
Rear: Belt clip.
Included accessories: AFP511 camera shoe mount. Output cables, 3-pin female miniature XLR to 3-pin male XLR (WA451) and to 3.5mm 3-pole jack plug (WA 461, wired 'dual-mono').
For use with Shure FP and SLX wireless receivers, all these have a multi-colour LED status indicator to show ready, controls locked, IR transmission in progress, battery power low, batteries dead, transmitter and receiver incompatible; press and hold power button.

FP1 Transmitter - Bodypack
This lightweight design, in a moulded polycarbonate case, is for use with microphones, including lavalier and headsets types, fitted with a miniature 4-pin female XLR connector. It is compatible with all such Shure microphones; it can also be used with many other suitably-wired microphones.
Top: Status LED, power button. Microphone input socket; 4-pin, male, miniature XLR for use with lavaliers or headset microphones. Fixed whip antenna.
Side: Audio input gain control.
In battery compartment: Infra red window.
Rear: Belt clip.
Input: -10 to +20dBV adjustment range, 1M ohms input impendance. Pin 2 has 5V bias to power electret types. Dimensions: 108 x 64 x 19 (h x w x d) mm. Weight: 81g.
The FP2 transmitter is compatible with all Shure wireless capsules, and is offered here with either an SM58 'industry-standard' vocal microphone capsule or a VP68 omnidirectional condenser capsule. The housing is moulded polycarbonate and ABS. The battery compartment is reached by unscrewing the lower part of the microphone body.

'Ergonomically designed to fit comfortably in the hand' the FP3 plug-on transmitter is designed to work with 'virtually any XLR dynamic microphone, and battery-powered condenser microphones'.
Top: 3-pin female XLR input connector to fit directly to a handheld microphone or via a cable.
Side: Power button, infra red window, audio gain control.
