Novo Natural fall under the category of hearables and are earplugs which provide hearing protection, but are different to traditional passive ear plugs as they provide the user with the ability to communicate and have situational awareness without removing them.
Hearing damage is not reversible and in noisy environments it is necessary to wear hearing protection, however, hearing protection that provides a high degree of attenuation can cause the user to be cut off from the surrounding environment creating a safety issue.
Novo Natural are level dependent electronic ear plugs, which in addition to passive attenuation also provide electronic talk-through allowing situational awareness facilitating surrounding sounds to be heard by the user including sirens, alerts and to allow communication with others, providing hearing protection but maintaining situational awareness and safety.
For the user to hear sirens and communicate whilst wearing the earplugs the sounds are picked up by a small omnidirectional microphone and reproduced using a wideband armature driver which is very small to allow for the electronics, but will reproduce in very high quality. The electronics will function for 80 hours using size 10 Powerone batteries or up to 10 hours when using rechargeable batteries.
Earplugs can work in temperatures of -20 to +50 degrees celsius, have an IP54 rating and weigh in at 2g.
The Novo Natural are supplied with a wax brush cleaning tool, six size 10 Powerone battery cells, storage container, retention cord and four wax filters with removal tool.
Two types of ear tips including slow release foam and silicon dome types are also supplied. Slow release tips are supplied in sizes 10.9mm, 12.4 mm and 13.7mm diameters; and silicon dome ear tips are supplied in sizes of 10.9mm, 12.6mm and 13.8mm diameter.
Spare eartips, lanyards and filters can be ordered additionally. Please contact Techsupp@canford.co.uk
Novo Natural conform to the PPE regulation EU 2016/425 and have been tested to EN 352-2:2002 and EN 352-7:2002. Passive attenuation figures can be seen below for the foam and silicone ear tips and also for the active attenuation.
Passive attenuation levels EN 352-2: 2002;
Active attenuation (1) - Criterion levels EN 352-7: 2002
Notes: (1) Sound pressure level of external noise for which the sound pressure level in ear first exceeds 85dB(A)- 1 standard deviation.
