ELECTROVOICE MICROPHONES - STAND

This selection of microphones is more suited to instrument applications than vocals, either in live performance or studio environments. Some N/DYM Series designs, with neodymium based magnet structure providing greater sensitivity and signal-to-noise ratio are offered together with a true condenser instrument microphone and end-firing, large diaphragm dynamic microphones offering performance which is comparable with condenser based designs, in a considerably more rugged format. The classic RE200 is synonymous with American AM broadcasters, yet is equally suited for use with drums, or thrusting inside a saxophone.

N/D468 - Dynamic, super-cardioid, live instrument

Designed specifically for musical instruments, the N/D468 has a flexible mechanical design to assist optimum positioning. The microphone transducer is contained in an egg-shaped metal basket, which swivels between two supports. It has a 'smooth, natural sound, capturing the excitement of the instrument' and the super-cardioid pattern gives 'superior rejection and acoustic isolation in any application'.

Applications: Acoustic guitar, guitar amplifier, snare, tom, high-hat, cymbals, horns. Frequency response: 20-22000Hz near, 60-22000Hz far field. Sensitivity: 3.1mV/Pascal, open circuit. Dimensions: 115 x 52 (height x maximum diameter) mm. Weight: 190g.

Included accessories: Stand adapter, soft pouch.

N/D478 - Dynamic, cardioid, live instrument

A conventionally shaped 'stick' microphone with a mesh grill surrounding the capsule, and 'warm grip' handle, the 'N/D478’s acoustic response presents optimal performance in both a live sound or studio environment'. Critical damping of the low frequency resonant peak has resulted in a microphone that 'replaces the muddiness found in competitive models with greater warmth and increased clarity' to give a 'clean, clear, consistent sound' that 'cuts through the mix'. EV state that it is 'also an excellent vocal microphone'.

Applications: Guitar amplifier, snare, tom. Frequency response: 45-15000Hz near, 100-15000 Hz far field . Sensitivity: 2.9mV/Pascal, open circuit. Dimensions: 181 x 52 (length x maximum diameter) mm. Weight: 247g.

Included accessories: Stand adapter, soft pouch.

N/D868 - Dynamic, cardioid, bass drum

Designed specifically for 'kick drum applications in live or studio environments' the N/D868 is a large diaphragm type, with 'optimized sensitivity for the high sound pressure levels' found in such applications. The transducer is enclosed in a mesh screen fitted to a rugged steel body, which reduces to a short shank to fit the stand adapter. Response is tailored to uplift bass at 50-60 Hz and upper frequencies at approximately 1500Hz and 5000Hz.

Applications: Guitar and bass amplifier, kick drum, tom. Frequency response: 20-10000Hz near field. Sensitivity: 1.0mV/Pascal, open circuit. Dimensions: 133 x 60 (height x maximum diameter) mm. Weight: 295g.

Included accessories: Stand adapter, soft pouch.

RE20 - Dynamic, cardioid, live instrument / announcer

This extremely versatile, venerable, broadcasting icon is used widely for presenter or DJ work in hundreds of AM stations, yet is also the mainstay of many a recording engineer's armoury. The heavy-weight case conceals large diaphragm and low-mass aluminium voice coil to give 'studio condenser' response, yet no powering is required and the microphone is near-immune to overloading. The unique EV dual-ported, continuously Variable-D design offers minimal proximity effect, and a steel case and hum-bucking coil provide exceptional magnetic shielding. A 'bass tilt down' switch corrects spectrum balance for use in long-reach situations or other applications where bass attenuation is needed. A true cardioid microphone, the RE20 offers greatest rejection at 180 degrees off-axis, directly to the rear of the microphone. An integral blast and wind filter covers each acoustic opening.

Applications: Accordion, acoustic strings, brass, guitar amplifier, kick drum, snare, speech, tom, woodwinds. Frequency response: 45-18000Hz. Sensitivity: 1.5mV/Pascal, open circuit. Dimensions: 217 x 55 (length x maximum diameter) mm. Weight: 737g.

Included accessories: Stand adapter, hard case, zipped vinyl pouch.
Optional accessories: 309A shock-mounted stand adapter for use with floor stand or recording boom.

RE27N/D - Dynamic, cardioid, live instrument / announcer

The RE27N/D utilises the proven design concepts pioneered by the RE20 and incorporates neodymium magnet technology to create a dynamic microphone that exhibits higher output and even wider frequency response than the RE20. The continuously Variable-D design reduces bass-boosting 'proximity effect' to maintain a uniform low-frequency response, up close or at a distance. There are three switchable filters; one high-frequency and two low-frequency. Due to the increased sensitivity provided by N/DYM, the switchable filters enable the selection of either a flat high-end response or a shelving emphasis above 4 kHz for enhanced vocal presence, and the option of two low-frequency roll-offs. An integral blast and wind filter covers the microphone head and vents along the body, preventing 'pop' breath sounds or excessive sibilance.

Applications: Accordion, acoustic strings, brass, choir, guitar amplifier, kick drum, snare, speech, tom, woodwinds. Frequency response: 40-20000Hz. Sensitivity: 3.1mV/Pascal, open circuit. Dimensions: 217 x 54 (length x maximum diameter) mm. Weight: 709g.

Included accessories: Stand adapter, hard case, zipped vinyl pouch.
Optional accessories: 309A shock-mounted stand adapter for use with floor stand or recording boom.

RE200B - Condenser, cardioid, live instrument, black

A small, light and rugged instrument microphone, the RE200 is designed to be used in 'professional professional remote recordings, sound reinforcement systems, sound studios and motion picture/TV scoring stages'. The transducer is a true, external-biased condenser element with greater sensitivity and stability than an electret element, biased by an internal dc-to-dc converter to ensure that performance is not dependent on phantom voltage, cradled in a shock-mount system for mechanical isolation. The diaphragm is gold-laminated and environmentally stabilised, while the electrode is a precision-cut, single piece, ceramic disc layered with gold. Response has a continuous presence rise, 'lending an open, transparent detail to the recorded sound'.

Applications: Accordion, acoustic strings, choir, hi-hat, overhead, piano, speech. Frequency response: 50-18000Hz. Sensitivity: 10mV/Pascal, open circuit, 1kHz. Power: 12-52V DC phantom power required. Dimensions: 137 x 28 (length x maximum diameter) mm. Weight: 185g.

Included accessories: Stand adapter, soft pouch, foam windshield.

309A SHOCKMOUNT, Cradle style, for RE20, RE27N/D

This suspension shock mount was designed specifically for use with the RE20 and RE27N/D dynamic microphones. It provides 'near-perfect' shock isolation for the already internally, shock-mounted RE20 or RE27N/D. For most applications, the Model 309A may be attached directly to the recording boom or to a floor stand. A stand adapter with 5/8 inch thread is provided.

The design allows quick installation of the RE20 or RE27N/D microphone without tools. A 'bayonet' locking action assures that the microphone will not fall out of the shock mount under its own weight and a set screw can be tightened to lock the microphone in place after it has been properly positioned. Four neoprene shock cords suspend and support the microphone within an aluminium and steel frame-work.
