UPS Carbon Neutral Shipping

As of July 1st, 2023, all Canford shipments (sent via UPS) will arrive using the UPS Carbon Neutral shipping programme, at no additional cost to our customers.

In recent years, we have been diving deep into our operations; how can we make them cleaner, greener, and more efficient?

From smaller tasks, such as building a wildlife garden and using recycled (and recyclable) air-fill packaging, to making wholesale changes including installing PIR / Motion-Detection lighting, using energy efficient LED bulbs (which included significant work to replace and adapt fittings and fixtures), replacing our entire roof and installing solar panels, we are committed to reducing the carbon footprint of our business.

You can read more about what our 'Green Group' are up to in Issue 8 of Source Material.

What does this mean?

For every shipment we send via UPS, we pay an additional surcharge which is then reinvested into carbon offsetting and other environmental programmes and initiatives.

How is the surcharge calculated?

UPS has developed a proprietary process which calculates the emissions generated by their activities. Their methodology is verified by SGS and certified by Natural Capitol Partners.

Where are UPS investing the money?

The additional funds raised go directly towards various carbon offsetting technologies and programmes including upgrading their own operations (such as investing in more electric vehicles).

So far UPS have invested in more than 162 million gallons of alternative fuels and invested more than a billion dollars in advanced tech.

Why are we doing this?

Every little helps! This is just another small thing we can do to ensure our operation has as little negative impact on the environment as possible.
