The Canford Audio battery powered headphone amplifier allows connection of stereo headphones to nominally line level sources. Two high impedance electronically balanced inputs, with DC protection, are provided via XLR’s. A three position slide switch selects between A/B stereo or MS formats on the XLR inputs, or mono (A+B).
A dual gang volume control is provided, and the output is available on both 6.35mm A-gauge and 3.5mm stereo jacks.
The amplifier is built in a robust standard extruded box, fitted with protective ABS bezels. The single 9V battery, externally accessible, provides a high quality, healthy output, with the unit offering an overall gain of 14dB. A three position toggle switch selects between internal battery, external DC (9V) and off.
A Y-lead adapter cable, 3.5mm stereo jack to two XLR 3 pin male, is available as an accessory. This enables the headphone amplifier to be used with PC sound cards, Walkmans and other miniature equipment, stock code 38-072. The headphone amplifier is also available as a kit complete with this cable plus plug-in mains power supply.
