CANFORD COMPACT POWER AMPLIFIER
The Canford Compact Power Amplifier is a mains powered device for use with small monitor speakers such as the LS3/5a or larger types, and for general purpose use whenever a rugged medium powered, high quality, mono amplifier is required. It may be attached to the rear of the speaker or other surface by means of optional mounting brackets.
To aid matching to professional systems, electronic balanced inputs are supplied as standard, with an input transformer version for situations where galvanic isolation may be desirable, such as O.B. sites.
The input sensitivity is arranged so that full output may be achieved from domestic equipment outlets. Provision is made to allow the user, if required, to filter the low frequency response to avoid driving bass reflex speakers below their cut-off point, where no usable output is produced, in order to protect the speaker and reduce intermodulation distortion. The speaker is also protected against damaging transients by the amplifier muting the output when the power is turned on and off. The amplifier output is fully protected against overload, short circuit and thermal damage.
Input connection is by a 3 pin female XLR. The speaker connection is by Neutrik Speakon (mating connector included). Power supply connection is by means of an IEC 320 inlet, with associated fuseholder. The unit is housed in a robust black extruded aluminium case with an integral heatsink and protective ABS end bezels.
