A2
A development from the A1, the A2 offers high quality 2 channel operation, large backlit LCD screen, built-in printer interface, on-board memory, 2 channel digital storage ‘scope’ mode, optional serial interface and computer software in a single portable package. A2 features include full simultaneous 2 channel operation on both input and output. A new generator gives IMD warble tones and improved frequency and level ranges and accuracy compared to the A1. The analyser section has built in phase and IMD and freely selectable sweep ranges. User filter and RS232 serial interface options are available. A2-D
A further development of the A2 to provide analog and digital signal analysis, enabling a single, self contained instrument to do all the required tests in the mixed signal environment, with superior documentation, graphics and computer interface capabilities. Digital input and output is provided in AES/EBU format on XLR connectors and IEC958 (SPDIF) on RCA phono and TOS optical connectors. A digital signal generator can free run at 32kHz, 44.1kHz or 48kHz or be locked to the analyser or an external clock, the sampling frequency can be detuned by ±1500 ppm to test PLL circuitry, the carrier level can be reduced from 5V to 0.15V and dither and jitter can be introduced, allowing the acceptance of digital inputs to be thoroughly investigated. The input section can analyse carrier level, jitter, bit statistics, sampling frequency, peak level and status (subcode). As with the A2, the A2-D can be used on its own, and download directly to a range of printers (Epson FX-, LQ-, IBM, HP Thinkjet, HP Deskjet) or the unit can be used with A01 optional RS232 (serial) or A011 IEEE-488 (parallel) interfaces. The Serial interface is now supplied with AS03 software for the PC which is compatible with A2 and A2-D and includes a specialised BASIC programming language allowing powerful automatic test sequences to be constructed. Other new options include transformer output option (A07), phantom power option (A08), retro-fit conversion to A2-D for A2 models Serial No. 400 and above (A010), and FFT option for A2-D (A012).
