NEUTRIK SPEAKON LOUDSPEAKER CONNECTORS - Cable types

The Neutrik ‘Speakon’ loudspeaker/amplifier connectors are robust, versatile, easy to assemble, and are used extensively by amplifier and loudspeaker manufacturers as their standard connector.

The contacts are designed to operate with high currents and inductive loads, and to prevent any damage from arcing when disconnected under load. All contacts are touch-proof and the connectors meet the safety requirements of IEC60065 (“test finger” procedures). Contacts are rated 30A RMS 250VAC (unless stated otherwise), with high inrush/outrush capability (300A 200mSec).

Canford has extra-flexible loudspeaker cables designed specifically for use with the Speakon series, featuring unambiguous colour coded and numbered cores to correspond to Speakon terminal markings. These are MCS (2.5 sq.mm) and MCS-HD (4 sq.mm), each available in 2, 4 and 8 core versions.

SP and SPX series cable connectors

Cable connectors have a very robust plastic shell, with traditional Neutrik chuck-type cable clamp and twistlock, with latch release or locking ring. They use slot/pozi combination screws, so specialist tools are not required for field installation (older versions used hex head screws, suitable key 43-048, replacement hex screws 43-049). Contacts can also be soldered. Maximum wire size 4mm sq. stranded, 6mm sq. solid (except NL4FX, see below). Silver plated contacts. All cable connectors are “female” pattern.

SP and SPX series in-line couplers

Lockable couplers for joining cables. Use NL4MMX for 2-pole and 4-pole types, NL8MM for 8-pole types.
