Description
FST-F - FOIL SCREENED STRANDED CONDUCTOR TWIN CABLE Flexible
This new 2010 version of the Canford FST-F cable is designed to be suitable for both digital and analogue audio signals, the ‘universal’ solution for both installed and deployable applications. Wire insulation is polypropylene, which shrinks back minimally during soldering (considerably less than PVC or polyethylene). An impedance of 100 ohms has been proven to be suitable for AES/EBU digital audio signals as well as analogue microphone and line level signals.
This cable is constructed in a similar way to the easy-strip FST, but has changes to improve the flexibility, which may be desired in some applications. The insulation has a slightly reduced wall thickness, and a significantly longer lay length of the twist than FST, giving a single, long length strip. The overall jacket is a soft PVC with semi-matt finish, and overall diameter is slightly less the FST. Conductor sizes are the same in both FST and FST-F. This design features a special low run-back PVC wire insulation, which minimises run back when the wire is subjected to greater heating during soldering.
