RJ11 and RJ45 are crimp connectors widely used in telecoms and data applications. RJ11 are available in 4-pole and 6-pole body sizes, RJ45 are 8-pole.
RJ11 are designed for use with flat cable with in-line cores. RJ45 are available both for flat or for round cable (eg. Category 5). RJ45 is also available fully shielded for more sensitive applications. RJ45-Cat6 is a three part connector, including cable management bar (note that strain relief bushes should be used in order to obtain Cat6 performance).
All types are intended primarily for use with stranded (0.128mm²-0.22mm²) conductors, but may also be used with solid (0.4mm-0.5mm OD) conductors.
These connectors are fitted using a special crimp tool - see Crimp tools.
